So here is a new one to me, I didn't find another post about this but it is entirely possible that I missed it.

After filling my gas tank tonight (I did not overfill it, I have been warned about that by my dealership) I got back in and started the car, and since I wasn't strapped in it quarreled with me. I buckled up and drove off and the idiot light and alarm continued to protest all the way home. I parked and pulled the key, which killed the light but not the dinging. I waited for a moment and got out of the car and locked it--still dinging. Hmm. I got back in and turned the jalopy on and it continued in the same fashion, so I turned on the offroad mode and thankfully that silenced the din. Hopefully it doesn't repeat this behavior tomorrow, I plan on driving faster than 45mph to church.

Mine has done this twice over the past few weeks...

Some things I noted:
  • The seatbelt warning/ding was only in the telltale cluster, the infotainment display did not show that I didn't have my seatbelt on.
  • The normal few dings when you first start are supposed to stop unless you put it in gear and start driving, in my case when it has happened, it continues dinging; almost like it gets stuck in a boot up/self test.
  • Turning the vehicle off and right back on fixes it (just a power cycle, not a full electronic shut down cycle)
  • My dinging stops as soon as the ignition is turned off
  • As stated above, off road mode will silence it (but the telltale cluster warning light is still on)
If I were to take a wild guess I would think it's a failure of the telltale cluster, but I've got plenty of miles and time before my warranty runs out for it to get worse before attempting a fix :P

The infotainment didn't show a seatbelt missing, just the cluster.

My Grenadier used to do a lot of dings and false alarms too for first 6 months. Now that happens very very rarely, if ever.

Fix was
1. Latest firmware - about 6 months ago now and

2. I charged it fully on a trickle charge for a week or two in my garage, and have tried to keep the battery at close to 100% ever since. Basically I hook it up whenever I’m not using it for a couple of weeks. I now almost never have any issues. It is rarely below 95% charge. Not sure if that’s a fix but it works for me and I’m a happy little Vegemite now (as an ex Australian prime minister once said).
