Can't you see the keyhole?

Yes, it's not very visible.
Some people use LED lights as a way to mount them, but I made them with luminous tape.
First, buy 2 round luminous tapes. (They don't cost much.)

One is a spare for failure.

Then cut out the middle letter part into a circle.

OUT ---> Trash

Attach the remaining circle ring to the plastic around the keyhole.
That part is made of very rough plastic, so it comes off cleanly.
Attach it boldly.

There is some ambient light coming in, but since it is the light accumulated during the day,
it is not very bright, but you can still see the location of the keyhole.
Rather, the circle should be slightly less bright so as not to obstruct your view.

Thanks a lot !!!

As my old Foreman used to say many years ago when building power lines. We would shout down to him that we couldn’t get it (the bolt) in the hole when trying to line up the steelwork. He would shout back I bet if there was some hair around it you would get it in then you dirty little bas- - - d. 😂😂😂
So maybe a triangular sticker around the keyhole would help 🤔

Great idea. I have difficulty in the dark with this problem also.

Humans have several senses. The sense of touch means, the key blade need not be the leading object, as you move your hand towards the keyhole area. Just have a finger there to feel for the hole

But I agree, given how infotainment-eager the grenadier is, it’s silly to abandon any form of electronic illumination, for the keyhole. Almost like two separate teams worked on these aspects of the car, guided by different principles of purity, simplicity, etc

Okay I’m glad I’m not the only one kinda annoyed by this. My garage is dark and even using fingers to try and locate the ignition is hard for me. Love this idea!

This topic was brought up about 6-7 months ago, and I know people used a number of different illuminated rings; however, there was at least one person who installed a ring that was just barely too thick and kept the immobilizer from being able to read the key properly leading to an intermittent no-start condition. Just food for thought.

Personally, I've never had the issue, the normal map lights turning on when you open the door is plenty of illumination to get the key in

flip key, place index finger along shaft protruding a little beyond key. feel for the hole and it's orientation - insert.

a lost art!

I bought one of those lumo rings, lasted 36hrs, fell off jam side down - chucked it.

Yesterday, after 5 months thinking whether I need it or not, I gave my illuminating ring a second chance. As it refused to stick on the mighty Ineos made plastic surface by its own Chinese
adhesiveness I helped with some silicone I had opened the weekend before.
Now it sticks like it should have done when I bought it.
Am I the only one who had problems with stickers on the plastic surface?

I don't know what the issue is, I find that the courtesy light provides enough illumination to insert the key before I shut the door.

You are right. But I leave them switched off for some strange reason I do not understand myself.

Maybe people don't know that you can press that overhead switch so the interior lights come on when the doors are opened?

I bought a luminous ring. Stayed exactly where I put it.
Doesn’t glow though, so just acts as a scratch protector in case I miss the keyhole in the dark.
To be honest not having a lit keyhole doesn’t bother me now.
Same as all the other quirks.
Although I still get out of the car 4 out of 5 times without having taken the key out and have to reach back to pull it out once I’m out of the car. That still gives me the shits, but mainly because I’ve forgotten. Old man’s disease. 😉

Like playing a Gretsch Falcon on a dark stage, there are some things you will never see. You just need to practice until the muscle memory kicks in. 🥴😜
