So airbag is ON when someone is sitting in the seat. When no one is in the seat it is OFF. I can't find a way to turn off the airbag in the menu regardless of someone is in the seat or not.
There is no way to turn the airbag off if someone is in the seat; this is not a federal requirement for standard equipment and usually only found in vehicles where the front seat must be used for a rear facing child seat.

And the telltale light is much too bright for night driving. Always on.
From what I can tell much of the instrument lighting is not adjustable. I am still trying to figure out why I have to have my headlights or park lights turned to on to get the compass/Altimeter in the center stack to be bright enough to read in the daytime. Conversely it's then a little bright at night.

The airbag is dead easy to activate.
Put someone or something heavy on the passenger seat.
Drive head first into a wall.
It will activate.

I'm legitimately tempted to pop it out and swap the "lights on" wiring over to switched power so it's always bright...

I have the exact same observation! I really wish it's a bit brighter in day time and less bright at night.

Then it's different to me with the MY23, I can switch it on or off without someone is sitting in the seat.

I think it is more about UK and EU requirements and legislation. The practice in the UK ( and EU I think) is it is acceptable to have a child seat in the front passenger seat but the airbag must be turned off. Therefore it is a driver option on UK and EU models to be able to arm and disarm the passenger airbag.

Ok. I don't know the regulations in the US. But that would explain it.

This is very common in the US as well. I dont think there is a big difference in regulations. Disabling airbags (as opposed to deactivating them) requires special permits in the US if you are a business. An end-user can disable airbags if they want to without any government opinion in the three US.

I've read that par of the manual. I just can't find the airbag setting in the infotainment system.

Yes, my only issue is with the BRIGHTNESS (particularly at night) of the message, regardless of whether it is indicating ON or OFF.
I've covered the section with light blocking tape. (It doesn't block, just dims)

I've used that on several things where the lights are crazy bright. (Dashcam on light, high beam warning etc)

Actually Amazon do a sheet of preshaped stickers of light blocking tape which would be a lot tidier.

I can't see it. This is the bottom of the vehicle functions sub menu.

I never seen that before. You can turn off Daytime running lights!!! That’s interesting, not in the UK. The passengers airbag light button should be where the DRL is.

Ask you dealer to reinstall the software. Seems like it’s missing, unless they spelt it wrong 😂
