Canoe and kayak mounting

I've used a variety of solutions to get my canoe up onto taller Land Rovers, as lifting above my shoulders has proven challenging (rotator cuff, then 'frozen shoulder'). On my '22 110, I had the factory expedition rack, which didn't have enough overhang, so I modified Thule Hullavator so it would stick far enough out (cut down old Thule square bars and through-bolted T-slots). Worked like a charm for both my Adirondack Guideboat and Swift Prospector. I'll look for pix of the set-up.

I just got my order in for Leitner load bars and a DropRack XL... pricey as all get-out, but without some assistance, I won't go paddling because it hurts too much to lift even a light boat like the Prospector. Hoping that the DropRack is one of those "buy once, cry once" purchases.

I can't recommend Swift strongly enough... and have become a regular consumer of Bill Swift's Youtube channel. Always something interesting coming out or being promoted by "the most Canadian" company.

Wow - thanks for sharing that - I’ve never seen that before. That’s wicked expensive but with your shoulder issues, seems like a great way to go. Looks like a really slick solution - I knew there would be cool ideas if I asked.

Yeah, I checked out some Swift canoes at Rutabega last week - beautiful - and I’ve been watching a bunch of Bill Swift’s videos. He’s great, and seems like his designer is just a real master craftsman and engineer. Rutabega said Bill would be here in Madison for Canoecopia in a few weeks.

Please send pictures once you get your rig set up. I also have the Leitner bars (I did 3 - 2 in back and one all the way forward) and love them. I think you’ll be very happy. I’ve got a little time before I make any decisions - my wife is in PT for a neck injury (went totally airborne on a high speed Zodiac on the way back to Vancouver Island from the San Juan islands), so no paddling for her for a while.
