Bug: Fuel Efficiency Calc Wrong

Hey guys,

I understand people have posted ad nauseam about the fuel tank indicator being off but I think the actual litres/miles and litres/km don’t agree.

In my mind 100miles is further than 100km and therefore the litres/100km number should be smaller than the litres/100miles for the same fuel efficiency.

I see that if I have 10.5L/100miles then the car tells me that’s 16.9L/100km. Where 16.9l/100km implies 27.2L/100miles and 10.5L/100miles implies 6.52L/100km.

16.9L/100km is 16.7mpg (uk gallon) whereas 10.5L/100miles is 43.3mpg (uk gallon) which sounds unfortunately optimistic given I was doing 130kph on the motorway with a solar panel on the roof! I think the calc for uk MPG is correct though (as that shows me 16.8) so it might just be the l/100miles which is wrong.

Keen to hear others thoughts / be told I don’t understand fractions!

Yeah its wacked out of its mind... The other day it said I had one two bars below half and was yelling at me said I had 72miles left. As I was driving it dropped two bar and went up to 88miles to empty and stopped yelling. lol I filled up only to put about 11 gallons in it. My truck don't math well. :)

No I know the estimations on fuel efficiency are nonsense but for this specific number I think they are multiplying the l/100km by 1.6 instead of dividing by it which is why the MPG number I provided above for MPG is wrong by 1.6^2 when you compare with the converted l/100km.

This is don’t think is just bad estimation of fuel usage etc but an actual error in the code.

I put a holly fi system on one of my lc’s and all the data dumps I worked with were accurate, but the rpm gage on the head unit is 30% high. It’s a known issue. I don’t know if the ever updated it. How they get the graphical interface wrong and not notice it, is beyond me.
