Hello Eveyrone,

If I want to increase the tire size but keep the factory 17" steel wheels, what is the maximum tire size that I can go to?

Kindly advise. Thank you. Mark

So the stock tire is a LT265/70 R17 which puts it at 31.61" overall diameter and a width of 10.43"

If I go to a 285/70 R17 that would put the overall diameter at 32.71" and a width of 11.22"
If I go to a 285/75 R17 that would put the overall diameter at 33.83" and a width of 11.22"

For you wheels & tire guys out there, would both size upgrades fit without rubbing or the need for any suspension modifications?

Thanks for the forum help, nice to have a place to ask. Mark

The tallest I've see claimed by Dirtbox Overland (look them up on youtube) is a kenda 35x10.5. next was a MT 255/85r17. Cant vouch, I havn't seen 'em in person.

You can also go with a Mickey Thomson Baja Boss 255/85r17. They measure 34.6" tall which is actually slightly taller than most "35 inch" tires. Sectional width at street pressure is 9.8 inches but when aired down for off road use it has the same contact area as the typical 35x12.50r17 tire. The 255/85 tire does not rub even at full steering lock and full articulation and can be run on the stock suspension without a lift. It is the tire that I am currently running and I love it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that this tire does not clear the door without using the Leitner spare tire relocation bracket. $200 and a Super easy install.
