Battery switch what for?

My understanding is yes for ext switches but someone who has their Grenadier should confirm.

I've only tested the front LHS footwear power and this switch allows you to power the outlet when the ignition is off.

You need it to switch on the power when ignition is off, to operate for example the winch, the Nato socket, the 12V in the boot, the additional power outlets.
What I have not tested if ignition is on, if you have to switch on for the High Amp outlet too.
