Battery drainage while parked for a while… any solution?

I bought a trickle charger. the positive lead in the engine bay is obvious under the red cap. Call me stupid, but I can't seem to find the negative lead in the engine bay to hook up the other cable from the trickle charger - anyone know where it is and can point me in the right direction?

You can use the jump starting points

You're stupid.
Not sure why you wanted to be called that but..........................

23 days without driving the Gren, SoC showed 80%. Over the next few days I was able to get in a few trips, ~3 hours total drive time, SoC is back to 95%.

There was one trip in the middle when the SoC indicated 0%. This has happened before. It doesn’t update during the drive, but next restart it is back to the expected value (non-zero).

I parked at Brisbane airport on Sunday 16th March and the battery was at 97% charge after a 3 hour drive as shown on the left.
I turned the PWR switch and all others off.
Nothing plugged in or charging except what came from the factory.
Friday 21st I returned from Perth and the battery was at 62% as shown on the right.
3 Hour drive home and it was up to 87%, forgot to take the picture sorry.

Wow, bet that was a bit of a surprise !!

That's even higher than my normal 5% daily discharge rate ... wondering if having the car locked, with the alarm active, increases the discharge rate?

I haven't checked the state of charge of my second battery for a while, but won't be surprised if it is low.

I am pretty sure the alarm system sucks some power.
I have the standard factory auxiliary battery and the vehicle always starts first go with no issues.
I would always have a bit of concern if I didn't have it.
I have had some pretty low battery readings from having fridge and phone chargers left on, but she still starts first go.

Hi Dave,

I just found out that if I leave my window open either with or without locking the Grenadier it drains the battery, you can hear a whining noise, very faintly when it's happening. took me a bit to find the cause

There was originally planned an ultrasonic motion detector inside the vehicle when it was going to be an english Chatham style system.
Not sure if there is or not.
There is normally a motion detector off button so people can leave their dogs and children in the car.

Don't think there is

Come to think of it, knowing IA electronics it may be a hangover from that system, didn't plan to go ahead but they left it in the system?

I don't think the UK spec has an internal motion detector. Has a tilt alarm but still haven't worked out how to cancel it for ferry crossings. The consensus seems to be use the key to lock the doors and the tilt alarm is disabled. I asked IA, all I got was it doesn't have the feature to disable it.

Apparently removing fuse FC04 to put the vehicle in transport mode also disables the alarm and tilt function. (https://www.theineosforum.com/threa...’s-manual-supplement.12415655/post-1333329115)

My issue is IA should have some guidance in the handbook or some other publicly disseminated means of the user readily disabling the tilt alarm. it is not as though ferry crossings in a Grenadier are going to be some exceptional event. The UK is a very small island, help I want to get off occasionally.

For first 6 months I had a faulty rear door sensor that would set off the alarm at odd hours.
Locking the doors manually as you say didn't arm the alarm.
