I originally ordered a Grenadier Trial Master - but ended up going with the GX-550 Overtrail +. Like the Grenadier there are many frustrations with fuel MPG and a small fuel tank - in the case of the Lexus it is a 21.1 verus the Grenadier at 23.7. Needless to say, one of the gifts of living in CA is that the CARB (CA Air Resources Board) is a brutal regulatory agency that makes auxiliary tanks like Long Range America and other MFR tanks that attach under vehicle very difficult to obtain and if not CARB certified illegal to use.

What are y'all finding for options in California beyond the typical RotoPax to more of a permanent solution?

Oh my...look who's back! 🤣

Good to see you here. I can't offer any advice on the tank thing but just wanted to bust you some.

Since I can't offer any help, I'll jump on @Krabby's bandwagon and ask how good (or bad) the fuel economy is on a GX550 in your use?

F- this commie state. If necesaary just have whatever setup you choose shipped out of state to a friend/ family member- then shipped direct to you.

I've had it for about ~3k. On the highway with the 33" stock Toyo's I can get about 20.5, around town it averages about 16.4 which is not too bad - but off road will drop that like a rock. Overall I really like it - really solid as a tank. The dealer is about 6 miles away. Even though it is a Lexus - the dealer is just ok. Lexus, like Ineos has some growing pains with a new car. If things something should go wrong some parts might take a while the GX forum talks about windshields for example with 90+ day lead time. I'm a bit disappointed by my rear seat heaters which are not very warm at all - and Lexus missed the boat on very poor lighting in the rear cargo area, climate controls that are just ok, and some other creature comforts that you would expect (why does the GX Luxury offer 4 zone climate but the Overtrail + which is more $ does not). I think Ineos really scored with the pre-wired lighting and accessories, I believe that is an option in 2025.

Like the Ineos forum there is a GX forum with many folks posting all sorts of hacks, wiring changes and other ideas - which to me is half the fun of doing things myself. I have not gone off road as yet - have just been too busy - but looking forward to that next month to Death Valley.

That was the plan - but if any tank makers do not offer vapor recovery - I will fail a smog and then cannot register the car when it comes time
