This is now the 3 rd time it happens: every time I drive-slowly- over a small bump, if the vehicle reverses by a a few centimeters ,the transmission disengages ,i get the above message and I cannot move the car forward the car
Today, I was stuck in traffic : quite unpleasant
After quite a few reversings and switching the engine off, it finally agreed to move forward again
Am I missing something ?
I understand this is a sfety feature ,but there must be a procedure for when this happens
Your advice would be appreciated

Driver's door isn't shutting properly.

Has anyone worked out how to disable that feature, or fool the drivers door into thinking it is shut? As a long time old style defender driver, I have developed a habit of opening the drivers door to reverse trailers (particularly livestock ones) up tight to a gatepost or generally round corners, which is much more difficult to do using mirrors or trying to peer backwards out of the door window!

I was moving a trailer yesterday and had the door open both forward and reverse. Not sure why it was working, I could swear it has locked me out of reverse before.

Anyone who promotes this feature has never worked with their vehicle. Granted I understand it, but you learn pretty quickly the dangers. I had an employee back through a wall while standing one leg in and one leg out of a truck trying to move it a few inches.

Yes, put it in off road mode and that feature is disabled
