Altimeter issues. Reset/Calibration possible?

The altimeter is linked into the GPS system of the Grenadier. Lose GPS and it goes out. —— on both the infotainment and the compass.

The Baltimore tunnel would tell you otherwise.

Driving through the Baltimore Tunnel yesterday, the altimeter showed -100ft while the GPS teltale
At the top of the screen showed two hash marks. It is definitely barometric.

Theres GNSS as well as GPS. If your tunnel has underground GNSS repeaters then it knows where it is. At least that’s how I understand things to be. Next time you’re there see if the lat and long are still working.

HAL9000 almost always knows.

The next phase is to take several readings I.e. is the -100' reading at the midpoint and what are the entry and exit altitude readings?

I wonder what this guys altimeter read??? I just finished explaining to my 11 year old son that no one drives 300 feet underground which makes it so funny and then I see this

On mine the altimeter and touch screen altitude displays differ by 1 to 50 feet. It's almost like they read the same sensor and then use different filters to average and calculate the display altitude. On the positive side the altimeter display gets washed out in sunlight so it's hard to see they disagree

This happened to me driving between Portland Oregon and Sacramento California. I found myself a few feet above sea level and the Alimeter indicated that I was about 70 feet below sea level which would have been an interesting challenge for my snorkel. When I got home I parked my Grenadier and the next time started it the altimeter was spot on.

Do you have a reference altimeter to verify? I don't think the Gren altimeter is ever spot on. Rather it confirms you are on the planet!

I believe it is stated somewhere that it's accuracy is +/- 150ft

Helpful, falling 3ft off a step ladder is one thing but if the drop transpires to be 153ft that is going to be irksome

Cheeky response here......not low but HIGH! Within 50' of the GPS yesterday for a run up to 12,000' or so......didn't snap a pic as we had to do some backing down on the shelf we were on....So for us it is pretty close for my purposes. My GPS at this point showed 11,760' before we moved on and upwards!

I have not been that deep yet! So far I have only gone down to -78 feet.

No, I just happen to know the elevation of the places I roam, living near the coast in northern California, Baja California Sur, and Florida the risk of flooding and promise / threat of beach front property is real.
