Altimeter issues. Reset/Calibration possible?

Living in New Orleans I expect to see negative numbers, but the city isn't 70' below sea level.

Should be showing around 8-10' above sea level where it sits.

Anyone know of an issue or is this just a limitation of altimeters in vehicles that I have to live with?
Maybe your altimeter is defective.

Just curious what you expectation is for an altimeter accuracy in a vehicle?
Specifically what it needs to do.
I don't have any real expectations, but I figure a simple script could teach it that I was no more than 10-12' below sea level.

Or at least correct for 70-100' below sea level.

Realistic needs. The city floods a lot. If you are 0'-3' above sea level your stuff is safe. Honestly, not sure what an altimeter can really help in general. Can have a 2,000' error and doesn't really matter.

It seems as though mine was set in the factory and calibrated once. As the pressure changes daily, the top of my drive goes from 550’ down to 400’, so it was probably accurate on day one at their pressure but since then varies depending on local weather changes.

Damn, that's pretty terrible accuracy for my needs.
Which is exactly why you recalibrate your altimeter with the current QNH when flying. No facility or need to do this in the Grenadier unless you plan leaving the ground.

For reference, the only time a barometric altimeter is accurate without adjustment is at 1013hPa.

For reference, a one inch (1” Hg) change in the barometer reading will result in approximately a one thousand foot (1,000’) change in indicated altitude.

All fine with mine. But is the altimeter realy a barometric one?
I thought it shows altitude by GPS?

If it is barometric how is it showing below sea level. That would be one hell of an atmospheric pressure.

Maybe they installed the altimeter from a future model... "The year is 2323. New Orleans is underwater. Fortunately the citizens can still commute using the new 9th gen Grenadier's 80 foot wading depth."
