Disclaimer: I didn't do a search regarding this topic but thought it was a fun weekend project while I was in town. I'm guessing many of you have already did this or have done it before. ;)

It has been annoying using the phone for the garage opener and I am one that paranoid to leave the garage opener in the vehicle even if I park in the garage while at home. (been targeted by this before).

Sorry I'm not very good at taking pictures along the project work but here are the steps and pics for my push button garage door opener. I took my garage door opener apart and soldered two wires across sw4 on the board (which is my door 1, I ignored other doors since I park in 1). The electrical tape was just temporary for testing and moving wires around, no need for it where I ziptied it up. After getting that tested and secured I drilled a 19mm (3/4") whole between my first row of buttons, mounted a momentary switch and sired up the soldered wires to the screw terminals and presto push that button garage opens. It is quite common here in Australia for thieves to open a car parked in a driveway or carport, use the garage door opener to get into the house and then steal the car keys that are on a hook or in a bowl near the house door.
This could be avoided if the garage door remote only works when the key is in the ignition and turned on.

Yeah I'm only worried about them stealing the remote itself. I'm guessing I will be rather safe with this style solution. What happen last time I was getting dinner and came out to a busted window on my GT3. Nothing was in the car and it wasn't till I got home I realized what was missing. I called Po Po and they showed up and recommend to have garage guys come out the next day to swap out. Once that was done I stopped carrying them all together.

During COVID(no comments on COVID please) when we were allowed out to go on walks around the neighbourhood, I noticed quite a few cars with garage remotes on the dash, attached to the sun visor or just sitting in the centre consol. These were parked on the street outside the relevant house.
Crazy how many people don't even think about it.

In America they use the garage door opener in the car outside to open the garage and then they rob the house. No interest in the car.

What is your power source that you tapped into?

What a great idea! It was a bit annoying that my Grenadier didn't come with a built-in garage opener. This is a really good idea! Thanks for the documentation on it!

I had a Flash2Pass setup on my motorcycle 2 or 3 bikes ago. It was nice and simple to use. I just hit the high beam switch twice quickly and the door opened. Separate hardwired receiver replaced the wall mount activator button and the transmitter was wired to the high beam trigger wire.

Well, it looks like they went out of business. :(

I was shocked to see the car didn't have a built in opener... I just ordered one that clips to the visor but I may have to do this. Thanks for the write up.
It is a global car and different countries use different frequencies and technologies for garage door remote openers.
Also remote garage doors are not that common in a lot of countries so it would be a cost that isn't used by many.

They clearly did it for cost savings or simply because the car is what it is. It doesn't have a vanity mirror either, do people in other countries not have a reflection? #deepthoughts

We just don't care what we look like and we all have phones with cameras on them that can show our faces.
Or we can look in the door mirror when we get out.

Looking at a lot of the Grenadier owners, myself included, there appears to be no oil wasted on paintings.

Hahaha... I don't need one but when my girlfriend jumped into the car and went to put makeup on (as she always does) she was all "OH WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!" hahahah
