Amusing that the Prado gets their overall win, despite having to be towed up a little hill by a Grenadier. 🙂

Also interesting that they scored the Grenadier poorly on braking, despite it having the shortest braking distance from 100km/h. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I’m just biased. 😬

4x4 24/7 know how to keep the majority of their rusted on mostly young/youngish viewers happy.
There were more holes in their conclusions than a large shower rose.
But at least they had a try, and left the New Defender at home.
They need to get a beer upgrade. XXXX is so last century ;)

They said that the IG had the smallest brakes, quoting that bigger brake discs mean more torque is applied to the wheels when braking.

Commonly quoted, but a misconception.

Ha Ha!
We spent a couple of hours testing braking in controlled conditions but decided to ignore those results and just score vehicles on the size of their brake discs because everyone knows that systems with bigger discs should always work better!

...and just like that, the Grenadier went from the top performer to having the bottom score!

Now please correct me if I'm a bit dim. Being a 4x4 test would bigger break discs not have meant bigger wheels and therefore smaller tyre walls. This would then harm the off road ability and modifications section? If a car stops with a smaller diameter disc isn't that a plus point for ability rather than needing a bigger one to produce the same results?
I'm guessing a bigger disc may last longer under constant hard braking but then we aren't testing spots cars.
Please help, as stated, I am a bit dim🤪

Just starting to watch - first thing that caught my eye was how different the Prado grill is compared to the US spec ones.

I believe to remember that they argued that smaller discs are more prone to fading. While smaller discs can indeed be more susceptible to fading under heavy or prolonged braking conditions, those conditions are in my view much less representative of actual everyday use and much less important than emergency braking capability.
