Sheds and Barns

Am I the only one who has no clue what this is? It looks like a parachute but maybe that’s totally wrong.
It is a military parachute used for dropping equipment, not people.
i managed to get my hands on it used and thought it would look better than just the plain bare metal interior roof of the shed.
It is 6 metres in diameter or 19'8"

Clever!!,I'd be interested to see how effective it is in stratifying the air and reducing the radiant heat from the underside of the roof due to the insulating effects of the air mass between the chute and the roof. Ceiling "drapes" have been used for centuries by Bedoin and other desert dwellers to reduce the tent temperatures 😉

I am quite happy with the garage lately. I added a split unit AC which has been phenomenal for both heat and cooling. I also did lighting from obsessed garage as previously it only had a couple of lights and was quite dark!

Due to change in circumstances we have stopped work on the shed.......................and started work on the house.

We purchased this old house 3 years ago as a holiday house and investment then 2 years ago we moved here permanently.
One year ago we started construction on the shed and the plan was to finish it, move into it and work on the house.
Originally we were going to knock it down or have it removed and build a new one, at a cost of about $600,000
We fell in love with it though and decided to renovate it at a cost of about $150,000 - $200,000.

Unfortunately the clock is ticking and my wife was very upset that she is not going to see the renovations come to fruition.
So on the weekend we started on the house with a significantly reduced budget and the shed not ready to move into.

I have started a video series for anyone interested to follow along.
Keep an open mind.
The house was moved to this site from an old mining town in 1974.
We think it is at least early 1960's but could also be as early as 1940's
It has been reclad with cement weatherboards over fibro.
As they say
  • She has had one careful owner
    • the other 10 weren't so careful.
