Low profile roof rail system Ineos Grenadier
Got an opportunity to install the low pro roof rail system today, I know these rails are newer along with The Grenadiers, so I figured I’d do a small writeup on the assembly:
Everything came packaged and labeled very well. The rails were in bubble wrapped, all hardware was in individual zip lock bags and each mounting bracket was packaged neat and separately. Here is a layout of everything that comes with the kit (even came with the allens needed for the install!)…
The assembly is very straight forward but there are just a few quirks I figured I’d share to save some time.
First, I spoke with DVA and they informed me some of the powder coat got into the threads on the brackets and if some of the bolts get hung up to just flip the bracket and thread it from the reverse side so once it’s run through it won’t be a problem. They were right. Some of the threads were bound up and simply flipping the bracket and running the bolt through the other side made it simple and easy. No need to have to re-tap anything.
Second, you can install one side of the bracket off the Grenadier. It’s easier doing this on the ground or a work bench (especially nice if you do so vs. my husband installing them in 20mph winds and 30 degree weather!). You cannot install both sides of the Grenadier because you need to raise the rail to slip the bracket under the roof/grab rails.
I personally decided to put blue Loctite on everything and I think it’s a pretty good idea. It all went together smoothly. The rubber grommets were the perfect fit to slide over the rail so it would be secure and wouldn’t wear any rough spots on the roof/grab rails. The fit and finish of the DVA low pro roof rails are excellent, great smooth powder coat and all the bolts are countersunk so nothing is sticking up to catch. The latch system is EXACTLY like the ones that come standard on the Grenadier so not only does it look right at home on the Grenadier, we can use the regular mount brackets or the supplied mounting brackets DVA sent (They had 2 small, 2 medium, and 2 large).
When they say this is low profile they are not joking! This thing sits LOW! It is streamline and very clean. I have had the opportunity to drive with it and there is no humming, whirring, or loud whining sounds that sometimes come from roof racks…I was very happy about this!
Overall I’m very happy with this rail system and it will be perfect for me. The price point, simple install, and ability to utilize the roof for storage is just what I was looking for. I had looked at others however the price tag and bulk were just not what I was looking for. If you are looking for a well made roof rail system that is incredibly easy to install, simple, modular and you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for, I would check out this system.
