Gutter mount crossbar recommendations?

I don't have sufficient overhead clearance in my garage to accommodate a permanent roof rack but would occasionally like to mount some crossbars to hold my Yakima kayak saddles. I'm looking for crossbars that can either mount to the grab bars or to the gutters - something that can be installed/uninstalled fairly quickly. Any suggestions?

I used Alu-Cab load bars and feet. They mount to the grab bar bracket holes. After the initial install, the bars and feet are easy to remove with a power driver. Just remove 8 screws and rubber washers and the bars and feet come off.

@DVA Mechanics posted about their new low profile roof rail based on L-Track. Adds 0.5" to your vehicle height. Posted here but check that the recommended and maximum weight limits suits your needs.

I was going to say the DVA bars mentioned above are the thinnest I’ve seen too, if you need them on all the time. I’ve bought other products from them and they are great. The downside of these rails is the weight limit of 100lbs (I think that’s per bar, but not 100% sure)

Personally…I like my own setup. I have 2 bars from Leitner, which add about 3 inches to the height. They replace the factory bracket on any of the 6 brackets on each side, so the downside there is you’re more limited in where you mount. The big reason I like the Leitner bars is I can loosen 4 13mm nuts on the t-bolts connecting the bars to the brackets and then with my fiancé lift the 2 bars up and off with anything mounted to them and keep the setup in the garage when not needed while the 4 bracket replacements stay on the car permentently and easily go unnoticed. We do have to empty the toolbox and water tank before we lift it on or off.

I also like how the bars have t-slots in all 4 sides.

@Tahoeroland - I’m with @Psignore00 on this. The actual measurement is 2 1/4” for the bracket and bars (and they have a Black Friday promo this weekend) - but as @Psignore00 mentioned, if you can’t swing that clearance, you could leave the brackets on and just disconnect the bars - which would only add 1/4” and would be fairly inconspicuous. $500 for a pair - $400 with the promo - hard to beat.

Is this the ones you use? Saw them on the Ineos dealer parking lot few days back.

Feels like very few screws with only 2 on the vehicle an 2 at the top per foot.

How much load have you put on them in what terrain?

But still looking for a way to get my rack build off the gutters whilst keeping safari window clearance.

Also my rack is full length so I would have to rest the front crossbar on the gutters still…

Good to know folks here have them in use.
