I'm pretty happy with the performance so far. Open sky on the highway, I can get ~100 Mbps. Facetime and audio are actually better over Starlink than strong 5G for some reason.
Very little competition for bandwidth compared to cellular (for now).

So, looking at options to power the unit. Needs about 60w max, so about 5amps. Could use the existing DTP’s, but has anyone thought about running wiring from one of the the existing INT switches (10amp) up to the roof. Would take a bit of work, but power should be sufficient and you would have a dedicated switch for the starlink, while keeping the rest of the pre-wired (25amp) outlets available for other stuff….

If you're making a longer run on power, definitely consider tossing a 12v->24v (or 36v or 48v) converter in the mix to drop amperage on the small wiring running to the dish

Here's the link to the cable if anyone needs one.

Tried to order using Apple Pay. Doesn’t seem to work.

I will check on it -- if you PM me your Name, Address, and Email, I will process it for you
There is a picture on X with the starlink mini power cable, it appears to have an in-line fuse. The picture on the web site for the power cable does not have a in-line fuse. Does it require an in-line fuse? Thanks!

No, but when we were testing the first prototype, we thought it was best to use an inline fuse just in case. We weren't sure what the Starlink Mini's bootup behavior was going to be.

It wasn't required after our testing.

Thanks, just ordered 2. I'm planning on plugging it into the EXT2 25 amp switch that is for a LED roof light bar. Do you anticipate any issues?

The Mini will draw about 1.5a at 48v, it should be fine. The cables should be in route. Thank you for the order!

I placed an order with DVA Mechanics on October 5, 2024 for two of their Starlink Mini cables. There was a snafu with the shipment, UPS lost the package. I e-mailed DVA asking them to check on the shipment, which they did. I received an e-mail from DVA stating they were not happy with UPS, UPS lost the package and that they (DVA Mechanics) would fully refund my money and send me two cables, at no cost to me, for my troubles. I received my refund last week and yesterday I received a message that the cables have been prepared for shipment which is scheduled for today. I really appreciate this, no B.S., no excuses, just doing the right thing. Thanks DVA, it is appreciated.

Starlink mini worked great in Big Bend National Park. Zero cell signal. Still had fast internet access.

I was in a remote area of the north rim of the Grand Canyon, 60 + miles from the road, no cell service. Starlink Mini worked great. I was using the GAIA GPS mapping system with the Starlink, worked great!

Fully installed and running off the roof outlet (thank you @DVA Mechanics and Striker Fabrication).

I did employ a bit of plumbers tape to ensure a watertight DC plug.

The mount also requires a couple of washers or grommets to stand-off the platform.
