I put the Wirelok coves on the front and rear upper and lowers. The manual only calls for the front lower to reduce wind noise and that one comes with the 3/4 rack.
Yes, we have the cover lower front only and the rack is silent. Unfortunately can’t speak to the cross bars however the Rhino bars we had fitted previously were also silent.

Hi Brad, Leitner has indicated that wind noise was solved with a plastic strip that gets inserted into the top channel on the front piece of the frame. It is included when you purchase the rack. I also purchased 4 additional strips that are available in a set called the Wirelok Wire Guide System. The set of 4 is just $38. I installed one of them in the bottom slot of the front facing frame member because it would be difficult to add it after installing the rack. I am holding on to the other 3 strips for perhaps covering some channel openings or for concealing wiring or if needed to perhaps any wind noise down. The quality of the strips is top notch, just like anything else that Leitner makes. Although the 3/4 rack will add more weight than the Leitner Cross Bars, all the extra flexibility you get with the rack makes it a winner in my opinion. You can easily move, remove or add additional load bars to the rack at anytime without taking the rack apart or removing it from your Grenadier. If weight is a factor, perhaps the Leitner Cross Bars are the way to go, it not the Leitner 3/4 Rack is the way to go. Here's some links below. DaBull

Leitner extra load bars for the 3/4 Rack link: Note: These are the same as cross bars that come with the rack.
Thanks DaBull, I have now ordered my Rack based upon your feedback...even prior to taking ownership of my new IG, which should be within the month.

I have the crossbars and can attest that they are very quiet, maybe not silent but no whistle or anything. A little more wind noise with the awning and tent but those won’t be living there all the time.

The factory Rhino Rack is only 3.25” higher than the roof line, measured at the center-rear of my roof. It really comes down to personal choices, but the full-length side piece (one-piece across all four feet) eliminates flex at the gutter. No issues with this mounting at all.
The “front runner” that a number of people have been considering is what I was referring to in my post. That said - the Leitner is still the lowest profile and for those people that have to deal with a parking garage in the US - it still keeps you in the 7” height limit with a bit of room for a lift.

Seriously considering the Leitner 3/4 rack for our Grenadier. Also seriously considering a new Starlink Mini.

Has anyone mounted their Starlink to their Leitner rack?

It looks like Star Mount is working on a mount, but unclear how that would interact with the Leitner system.

I'm also considering whether any of the DTP auxiliary power ports on the roof could power the Starlink Mini.

Would appreciate any thoughts from fellow forum members.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know anything about the Star Mount and Starlink... the Leitner 3/4 rack (also their full rack) is fantastic.

Take a look at these options. Starlink mounts

Although not connected to the roof rack, there are options that would allow you to connect their mounts to the 1 inch tubular aluminum roof grab handles.

Plus Leitner's Track Lock Bolt kit https://www.leitnerdesigns.com/collections/the-grenadier-collection/products/bolt-kit-traklok. You should be good on Leitner rack,

Assembled my rack yesterday. My 60 year old self thought he could cash a check issued by my 27 year old self and lift the rack up to the roof alone. The check bounced so I got help. The ACS Roof is very solid.

I should have said I had my son help me lift it, you also need minimum of one ladder to help position it.

We hoisted the rack onto an aluminum platform at the back of the vehicle first, then lifted it to the roof with a Uhaul blanket protecting the surface while we slid the rack into place.

Anyone else notice whistling when driving above 70 mph with crosswinds? I'll put the WireLok covers on the lengthwise grooves to see if they make a difference.

Adding Wirelok covers to the top channels of the lengthwise bars seem to have mitigated crosswind whistling that occurs above 70 mph.

I ordered the 3/4 rack with the Gear Pods. It's a sold rack. When you start putting it together you can really appreciate the engineering and design of it compared to others I've seen. Assembly is a little time consuming but not difficult at all. I assembled the whole thing on the floor, placed the items on the rack where I wanted them and installed the various mounts. I took the Gear Pods, Roto Pax, and Max Trax back off after making sure everything fit how I wanted but left the mounts in place. I had two people help me put it on, I could have done it with just one helper but two made it easier. My Star Link is on order and I may have to move some things around to get it to fit right but there should be plenty of room (I'm thinking of mounting it on the back section of the rack). I'm very happy with it and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a 3/4 rack solution. I haven't really noticed that much more wind noise until about 70 mph but it's not like the Grenadier is quiet anyway. View attachment IMG_5777.jpeg
