I present the Auto Start/Stop Temporary fix

So, for everyone who wants Auto Start/Stop to stay off, I have a Jerry Rigged has worked for the last three days solution. I’d love to have longer term data, but 72 hours is what I have so far with no fault codes.

I bent a little sheet metal just thick enough to slid in under the button, than depressed the button, the Auto Start/Stop button now stays in the depressed position due to the friction of the little metal shim.

It is L shaped, so it can’t slip inside the button cavity.

I make no claim this is “good” or “not good” only that after 3 days it’s still in the “off” position.

If and when they figure out how they are going to resolve all my issues, I will be putting in a bypass toggle switch. But first I need to pull the panel and look at the connector. It’s possible one of the BMW jumper harnesses will do the job

Only 280 miles but it has never auto turned off at a stop, strange ?

Mine stopped turning the engine off all on its own! The engine has not auto-stopped in 3 months. I have no idea why and have had zero issues with anything else electrical.

Is your a/c on and set to full cold? That usually also prevents it

I just wish it wasn’t as aggressive. I’m not sure I’m always at a full stop.

My ford waits a bit. Other than that. I push the button.

I followed @IslandFalconer's lead and used an L-shaped piece, but I 3D printed it in black and it works and blends in seamlessly. Thanks for the great idea!

My biggest issue with it is that it's not as responsive as it should be. Sometimes I lift my foot off the pedal to jump into moving traffic and by the time it starts and gets going, the gap has closed a bit and becomes slightly dangerous to merge into moving traffic.

I adopted the little metal wedge idea and it works perfectly. Painted it black and it’s unnoticeable. I used a little metal clip and trimmed it to shape and made the 90° bend. Probably about 3/8” wide with one 3/8” leg and an 1/8” leg. Then I placed the 3/8” leg over my vise jaws when they were slightly open. Then tapped the leg with a screw driver and a hammer to make a little notch in the leg to make it thicker. This allowed it to slide in with just the right amount of pressure. Then painted it black. If only the ADAS fix was this simple.

Looks like I have a small project this weekend.
