Tongue Weight USA book vs hitch labels.

In the handbook it is listed as 771 lbs (350KG) but there is a label on the underside of the hitch plate that states ~600 (273KG). Given the GVW and GTW are both 3500 KG (7716 lbs), using the rule of thumb of 10-15% you'd expect the TW to be at least the value in the book. For clarity this is the factory installed hitch.

That 273 seems strange. What have others got stickered on?
I'd be onto.my dealer ASAP.

@MTNDOG now that is interesting. I wonder if it is something to do with the US spec hitch? I will send an email to Ineos as that's all my dealer will do.

What does the white sticker say the vertical load is @nodric? Mine says 350kg. Check the back of your owners manual as well, any extra stickers? I found my correct payload sticker there.PXL_20240406_043619843.NIGHT.jpg

Well bugger me. I went and laid under the back end (the mind boggles) and craned my neck closer and low and behold! I will still drop Ineos and email and ask was the other sticker and printing error or just for kicks 😝

Here is the question I asked Ineos which they partially answered.

Hi,

I have a 24 delivery year model and was checking to tow hitch tongue weight.
The handbook states 350KG. Then there is a label on the bash plate that says 273KG. Others have this same bash plate label that says 350KG. Then there is another label from Brink that states 350KG.
I have attached some photos and the forum has post has more. (I sent them a link to this thread)
Can someone clarify?

No answer as to why mine has some hokie sticker on the rear bash plate but we all now have confirmation the TW is 350KG or for us in Americaland 771.62 lbs.

Can someone confirm the "trailer without trailer brakes = 1653 lbs" posted above? Aren't there many trailers with no brakes (like double jetski) in the 2500 lb range? This makes no sense to me but then again I don't have much technical automotive sense. That's why I'm here in this forum. You early adopters are awesome and I appreciate you!

The 750KG is the limit in the UK and Australia. In Texas it's 4500 lbs. It varies by state. Regardless, Ineos says 750KG. In California the max without brakes is 1500 lbs. I presume, but don't know, that depending on where you are towing you'd need to meet the worst case scenario. But, Ineos says 750 KG which is slightly hire than CA. Florida is 3000 lbs. Fun isn't it!
