Hello everyone, dear community, has any of you ever had water in the spotlights? :( :mad:
I have moisture in both and I think that shouldn't be the case.

Hello everyone, dear community, has any of you ever had water in the spotlights? :( :mad:
I have moisture in both and I think that shouldn't be the case.
Was it related to a sudden change in temperature or have you been wading / in wet weather.
No issue with mine and they’ve been subjected to a lot of moisture.

Yup, have exactly the same. One oval splodge over the dip beam lens. It seems the outer glass (if it is glass) is open to atmosphere - only the working bits are IP45 sealed. I'll be asking the dealer about it.

I think that is related to sudden cold snap of weather, mine did it after driving, when stopped the ambient temperature drop to -5°C

No, the car was with me in the hunting area, wet and cold but no temperature fluctuations.
That doesn’t sound right so maybe worth taking up with your dealer. From memory the spec of the lighting unit changled and they were replacing some . I’ve got a very early one and it’s been no bother.

One point to consider-LEDs don’t produce much heat so moisture that would otherwise be cooked off with traditional lamps lingers.

Agreed, but my mist spots didn't evaporate even when heated with a small air dryer. Wondering if it's some contamination left behind like, for instance, road dust.

Dont. they have a goretex breather in them could babe pressure change not temp.

That is not true, as an example a popular LED replacement for Toyota Halogen is a company called Lastfit. Their products actually have mechanical fans on them for venting. I am sure they are not the only ones.

It is true that LEDs don’t produce much radient (IR) heat.

I have no idea if IG lights have internal venting fans.

Either way that's a problem and dealer needs to know. Possibly faulty light fittings. I have not had water in a head light in 20 plus years.. be it hot cold or wading!

Krabby, I think there might be some truth both ways here. Definitely early leds produced extremely low heat. Versus incandescent, which are basically 95% heat and 5% light, it was no contest. Literally. However, the high output leds now seem to produce significant heat; nothing like an incandescent, but more than enough to need fins and ways of dissipating that energy. Whether its enough heat to shift condensation, and radiating forwards, to counter the cooling effect of wind on the lens I have no idea. They are amazing tech though, and so much cheaper and long lasting than xenon, hid etc etc. We are lucky they incorporated them!

Any condensation in any of the lights would be on my snag list. If they say it’s nothing to worry about, at least you have the backup of telling them if down the road you get some corrosion issues.

I’m pretty sure there’s a member that’s part of an automotive lighting company. If they see this I’m sure they’ll chime in….

If you actually facing some cold and wet weather that amount is still normal.

The lights have waterproof breathers which let the air out when the inside gets hot. When the light cools down it lets air getting in again. If that is air with high humidity it will condensate on the cold glas. That is how LED lights function. All lights breath (must). A halogen light will dry that very quickly, a LED need somewhat longer.

But it must get dry and there should be no larger drops or even sitting water at all.

I’ve had my gren since Friday and I’m too suffering with a bit of condensation in the lenses, but it reassures me with Awo’s description.

About the condensation: If the lens is cold I would assume that also ambient air is cold and then the absolute humidity can't be very high.

In Finland this would cause fail if it would happen in yearly inspection (MOT, ITV, etc.). New strict rule from last summer.
