or so my Owner's Handbook states on page 187...but that option is not on the central screen menu in my vehicle?

As isn't the option to switch the Passenger Airbag on/off?

Maybe due to regulations. In countries where the UN ECE regulations are used (whole of European Union), the DRL must switch on, when the ignition is turned on when you have a manual transmission. WIth automatic transmissions it must turn on, when you go into "D" at the latest. So it is not allowed to turn it of. Maybe that's why they are not allowed to offer taht function.

Except they can do similar things with homologation/statutory items in off road/wading mode.

So being non-compliant, per se, is not the issue.

I have been trying to switch the airbags off too the DRL are a pain as you can't sneak up to anything to shoot it in the dark .
So… you’d have the engine off too? Or is your prey deaf?

Pretty sure the auto safety betters want the car seat in the back seats. Might even be stated in the manual. However, I thought there was a progressive sensor in the seat and there is a notice light indicating that airbag is Off when it detects a light weight on the seat. Pretty sure my wife's Subaru is this way.

It's certainly illegal here "Downunder" to carry children in the front seat. It used be a minimum of 7yrs, however, now the research shows the kids should be at least 145cm (4'9"). The reason is that the lap/sash belt is positioned for a grown person at least 145cm tall so that it sits across the strongest bones in the body....

Vehicle Functions menu - Daytime Running Lights - toggle on/off.
Sadly I do not have that option, its may be a EU thing where we are not allowed it off.

Looks like im going to have to come up with a switched option that I can manually flick to turn them off.

I wonder if the fact that it's in the Owner's Manual means it is coded in as an option but there's a vehicle configuration file that hides the option in certain markets.

As an example I don't see the PDC front option - but I don't have that option in my vehicle.

Alternatively, it could be the screen option is hidden until you lock the centre diff, select low range, off road mode... (that may be over optimistic but...).

Hi,

I have a Grenadier for the German market since yesterday. The menu item for Daytime Lights not I have either.

It may still be a software bug and not an EU regulation.
Because with Mercedes SUV you can turn off the daytime running lights.
The option is called in German "Jägerstellung". Switch on parking lights right or left. The lights are off when the engine is on.
But it does not work with the Grenadier.

greetings

I read a Bosch patent request once, where they offered a system which can be set to local legal regulations. It was about exhaust treatment. It worked with a two part code. One part is yours, the other came from a local workshop. If you arrive in Brasilia, for example, you could go to the local dealer, both enter their code and the ECU didn't request AdBlue for example anymore.

I found that a good solution. However it also could be another complicated piece of software nightmare....

I don’t know who is more impatient to get a hand on the car. Me or my IT guy.
