From my understanding of its location it would be quite difficult to do quickly and easily, its high up basically under the footrest on the RHD version

Believe me, it takes 30 sec. to cut one out. They use ratchet pipe cutters.

I,m hoping that its more difficult to get to than most vehicles , we all know how easy it is to cut one off but only if its easily accessible at both ends . its the same as everything if they want it they will find a way but best to make it as difficult as possible

If he's going through the window to get the cat, isn't he doing it wrong?

I noticed that Toyota are offering catalytic converter shields from MILLERCAT to protect from theft in their Associated Accessory Products (AAP) program announced at the 2022 SEMA Show.

Modern converters contain fewer precious metals. So its less likely.. and do not wash your vehicle underneath. Mud conservation.
However - I know recently a bunch of MB G-Class were stolen right from 2 car dealers.. However G Wagons with Brabus V8 etc. became less an offroad vehicle. Unlikely the IG will become a downtown vehicle -at least I hope not.

I hope it does become a downtown vehicle for selfish reasons. The more IG’s on the market the better for parts availability, aftermarket accessories, etc for the rest of us. I want Ineos to succeed and if that means selling a few kardashian-class vehicles I’m all for it!

Edit: just to be clear the use of the word “class” and kardashian in the same sentence does not imply that any kardashian actually has any.

IG becoming a more common vehicle is fine for me but not a subject of speculative purpose. Would mean increase of insurance premiums and other..

True and confirmed story - Birmingham area UK. (Two weeks ago)

Dealer of nice cars sitting in his showroom on a Saturday afternoon. The usual car shopper walks in carrying a handgun and wearing a balaclava. Car shopper asks to take out the really nice Range Rover for an extended test drive and politely asks for the keys whilst waving the handgun at the dealer and then also promptly marches them outside and instructs them to put the Ghost immobiliser code into the vehicle before driving off in the RR.

I hear the dealer is still waiting for them to finish the test drive !!

Moral, if they want it, they are having it.

I firmly believe that we are more likely to have the whole vehicle taken as opposed the the cat being stolen. So much so that I am starting to get quite twitchy about it.

Planning extra overt security as well as a hidden kill switch and my own tracker.

As long as we don't get to the point of parking in a train station and coming back to find all the doors and bonnet are missing...

or even this:

"Thieves have stripped the doors and bonnet off a marked Land Rover outside a police station."

I noticed early on Ineos said the door and bonnet hinges were actually glued on with aircraft grade adhesive, so even if the undid the screws they weren't removing the panels
