This thread is a life saver.
1) I didn't even know I had a subwoofer there. I wonder how many other things I will discover reading random threads.
2) The subwoofer was turned off. No wonder my bass was crappy.

So is the wired remote necessary to achieve certain kids of adjustment? Or can the full range of adjustments be achieve via onboard dials / adjustment screws?

The only thing the wired remote does is attenuate the output. There are no "adjustments" to sound from it
