I haven't been there before, but it seems like a moderate trail with spectacular views. Weather forecast is clear for Sunday, high around 100F, so bring water.
@74CampySuperRecord and I will be there. I have a winch and tons of recovery gear, and extra handheld radios so comms will not be an issue. My wife, Susan will be along as well, so feel free to bring significant others, pets, kids.

As far as I know, once we leave town, there are no facilities anywhere, so pack a snack, lunch, drink, TP, etc.

The route is 30 miles if we take the loop on the map, so plan for 3-5 hours or possibly more.

Well shoot…..we’re camping up in Happy Jack, so unfortunately we will miss this one.

It’s a fun trail, Have fun! If memory serves, there may be a couple of tight spots in the canyon. Nothing to overly stress about though. You should see plenty of side by sides.

just checked out sheep's bridge. it was a fun trip but i wouldn't recommend a full loop. i would go to the bridge via Bartlet lake then turn around and go back the way you came. took us 10 hrs but if we turned around it would be closer to 6 from our home. we do drive slow.

Will do! @74CampySuperRecord and I have been discussing getting together off-line, but I see no reason we couldn't make it an event!

Here's a route / trail I've been wanting to drive, near Tucson ( I live in Vail, at the SE edge of Tucson). I was just at the AZLRO Christmas party and Reddington Pass is a long standing favorite 4x4 club trail. It's anywhere from Corola-friendly to gnarly depending on the route you take. I understand that Alamo Spring is absolutely beautiful and well worth the drive.

I'm headed out of town tomorrow for 10 days, but will be back the 18th. With Christmas, though it's probably better to plan something after maybe Saturday the 28th? Depending on schedules, we may have to push over into the new year, Maybe January 4. I'm retired, so have time but I'm assuming weekends would be generally easier, particularly if you're still working, although the trails are much busier on weekends.

The black line is a route I just threw on the map, as a loop I wanted to drive. It's 121 miles total, and I honestly have no idea how long it'd take to run the whole thing, so I'm NOT saying that's the route. Actually, for ya'll in Phoenix, going to the northern point on North Cascabel Road (the black angle at the nothernmost part of the map, by Sheep Camp Wash), that road goes to San Manuel / Mammoth and dumps out on Hwy 77. It could be a nice way to head back home to Phoenix, avoiding backtracking through Tucson. If we get together, we could discuss all of that.

Description

Redington Pass is a very popular two-lane road with lots of dispersed camping on the western slope overlooking Tucson. This pass varies in difficulty from deep ruts and washouts with many full washes. Most of the western side can be traversed in a low clearance 2wd with caution but it's not advised. Airing down is recommended if completing the whole pass. The most difficult portion of this trail is the water crossing in the east valley. It is soft and muddy and should only be tackled in a high clearance 4wd when full of water. The views of the surrounding mountains are incredible along this long meandering trail.

A bit more challenging, but (based on other trail ratings I've driven, and the Moab experience we gained at the Oktoberfest) I'd say even this is extremely doable in a base stock Grenny:
