Where to install a 3kw inverter?

I have a 3kw inverter. I’d like to tie it into the 500a line that runs to the back and has the overhead switch. Does anyone know where this could fit? Or is there a NATO plug adapter I could run to the inverter for the short term?

What gauge of wiring is running to the current 400w inverter? Would the 3kw fit there or is there a compact better inverter to get? In reality I just want to be able to run some appliances. Generally in the US that means 1800w at an outlet (15amp x 120v). I don’t really need 3kw for anything I just already own it. But inverters are pretty cheap so if someone has a good one with good mounting options I’d order it. But it would be amazingly nice to have it on the 500a switch for me.

Thanks guys!

Having fitted a normal inverter in the factory position, there is a huge amount of space there, worth talking the panel off and having a look.

oooofff. Yeah, this could get interesting. First, I'd check what the battery is rated for under continuous load. The trouble with your inverter is that at 12V (really closer to 14, but whatever) you're talking 250amps. That's a very big wire for continuous load. You're talking 250MCM, so a little over half an inch diameter if stranded. Also keep in mind the battery itself is only 1kwh, so you can't power this for long at all. You'd be much better off getting a 5kwh battery pack from signaturesolar.com and throwing it in the trunk. Also keep in mind, is the inverter 3k max draw or 3k load, because the actual draw from the battery will be higher.

What are the dimensions of your 3KW inverter (the link doesn't work)?
