It does seem to sit quite high on those legs.

Has anyone had a look at the ARB base rack, their 2125mm x 1285mm base rack weighs 22.8kg complete, considerably lighter than the 60kg rhino rack.

Yep, I reckon I’m going in that direction Steve. Haven’t seen the gutter mounts for it as yet though.

Add 10kg for the mount kit.
Maxload is 150kg ; is that static max?

The Base racks use a gutter mount ($400+ for 6 legs) load capacity they say is 150kg
I’m expecting the 7 beam (1,835mm x 1,445mm) would be the go if you’re clearing the safari windows.

I like that the legs are adjustable however I suspect this is where the max weight limit arises - might be worth fabricating rigid mounts of the required height.

I only want to be putting heavy loads up there on a very occasional basis, but others may vary.

I called ARB HQ last week and was advised that they won't start looking at a rack until they have access to the vehicle. I have an ARB rack on my Defender and feel it is excellent quality, as well as light. It is 1445 wide but I think would need to be about 200mm wider for the Grenadier.

Interesting, thanks Tony. I don’t suppose you have a photo of it on your Defender? Found any issues?

Spoke to a TJM rep at the Nambour caravan, camping, 4wd show today and he said that they hadn’t done anything with the Grenadier yet, but I was the third guy to ask.

Also talked to the young guy manning the Frontrunner stand, but he had no clue about much.

They are quoting 25kg per leg but unsure if that is static or dynamic

No particular issues but accessories are expensive - I'm building my own plywood brackets for spare wheel, fuel, etc. The roller on the back is great, for example, to get spare wheel up onto the rack. 25 Kg loading for each bar.
