Telegraph article October 1st, Lynn Calder comments on recaro

I like her comments and willingness to discuss the initial decisions that might have hurt them straight out the gate. Direct sales and branding.

Honest article. I enjoyed it and I completely agree with her assessment of the strategy choices ahead.

Having said that, the biggest markets are Texas and los Angeles... So can we please turn off that nanny speed warning for the consumer in your biggest markets?

That link is not working for me, so I assume that it is https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/10/01/jim-ratcliffe-wanted-to-conquer-car-industry/, (paywall - they have a cheap deal at the moment).

If they are reassessing the market positioning, the break in production could be a blessing in disguise, especially if they are not selling in European markets. (One dealer told me they sold 3 this model year; you cannot build a business on that).

Ineos forced to shut down production on supplier issue

See Lynn, was that so hard? Just tell us what's going on.
Do you all think Lyn n Calder has to write to us all? Seriously people, if you have ordered a vehicle, your immediate access to the supply chain - YOUR DEALER should be doing this.

I have ordered many vehicles and for example Toyota CEO never wrote to me to explain a delay - I think we all need to step back and really think what we are saying.

To add, the Telegraph article was investigative journalism and not an INEOS statement.

Don't be silly! I don't want a letter, I want her to explain it to me over tea. ;)

OUR DEALERS seem to know as much as we do, which is next to nothing.

The Telegraph asked questions and she answered. It was journalism (yay!), but it did follow an Ineos statement that prompted more questions than it provided answers. We (customers and dealers) have asked questions and have heard nothing. I personally would have liked clarification on the unusual delays specific to my order, but overall just a little more transparency regarding a SHUT DOWN OF PRODUCTION would be nice. That's all.

There are current discussions regarding vibration issues on the Lexus GX550 Overtrails on various forums and the lack of concern and acknowledgement from Lexus that there is a problem. I'm afraid that the ridiculously litigious U.S. is at the root of some of this; you can't say "I'm sorry" or "it's because..." without getting a class action lawsuit before you finish your sentence. :(

@Reducs

Consumer engagement is a key strategy in business. I think customers like me are complaining about the lack of engagement. This is especially important in early product releases when the hard core enthusiast is your base.

A dealer can supplement the engagement by a brand and some are doing a great job at it (yes, I'm looking at you warner in salt lake), but the big picture strategy can never be fully assumed by an intermediate.

That's the observation.
