They told me in Edinburgh that the rear seat sits 4" further back in some models for more rear legroom.
I can't remember which models (in my mind I just thought the utility model, unavailable in the US), and I'm probably removing the rear seat anyway.
I need the flat rear deck about 6 mos/year. So it's been a common thing for me to do.

I may be mistaken, but definitely not on the 4" thing.
