During the last two weeks of June I will be in Basel Switzerland, Cernay France and Freiburg Germany.
All about 2 hours drive from the Grenadier factory in Hambach
I wonder if I turned up, knocked on the door and said "G'day, I am Dave from Australia" would they let me in?

Worth a try.

Take your order confirmation with you and say you're just dropping by to see how they're getting on. ?

I am free on Sunday 18th but from Basel it is over 6 hours each way by train or if I hired a car 4-5 hours each way.
Too far for one day
I wonder if the dealer in Zurich has one
But no doubt they won't be open on a Sunday

15 years ago I rolled up to Ducati (nearby Bologna) unannounced on my Australian-plated bike.  They serviced the bike for free, and while that was happening took me around the factory and then invited me to lunch in a nearby village, bless.  I’d swing by Hambach, I’m sure it’ll happen at some point.

the 18th is a Saturday.

Trains in Germany. Funny idea.  ?

Ask a colleague to join you that day, then you'll have a lift. Tell him, you pay for the fuel, the ticket for the fair and a lunch. That doesn't cost a fortune. Otherwise rent a car. That doesn't even cost 1/3rd of a snorkel.  ?

If you feel generous, rent an X5 4x4 Diesel, to have some appetizer for the B57, and the four hours will be fun to drive (may be I should take a new job as a travel agent).

By car it's maybe four hours (one way). So get up Saturday 7 AM, have a breakfast, and at 12 AM you'll sit in the Grenadier. Take your time to walk around the fair, and drive home at 3 pm to have a dinner at 8 pm.

A great day.

Or spend a boring Saturday in the hotel ... ?
(I know, what I am talking about...)
