There's a siren noise that goes off every time I start the ignition. I imagine/hoping this is "normal." Does anyone know what the purpose of this is?

I don't know that. Can you make an audio recording of it?

How loud is it? I sometimes hear a squeaky sound from the engine bay, especially during drive-throughs when I roll down the window.

Don't get that sound, I'm diesel though. We're does it appear to come from? Fuel pump, relay opening, infomat energising?

Well this is a new one!

Most likely a bad telltale.

When I had my loaner, it would screech like a banshee.

I heard previously someone with the same issue is that the dealer fitted an alarm which they should have removed before sale.

Luckily they were able to disable mine remotely. Problem solved.

Hm. It sounds like you still have a GPS tracker installed on your vehicle then. Are you confident that remotely re-enabling and tracking is not just another button press away, if it was this easy for the dealer to control remotely? By accident or intent. Dealers call them “asset and usage trackers” and it’s probably a 4G transceiver with indefinite lifespan.

Up to you, obviously, but I’d ask for it to be removed, if they installed something physical onto your vehicle.

Just heard back from my dealer. Apparently they install GPS trackers on all of their cars. They forgot to disable mine. Luckily they were able to disable mine remotely. Problem solved. Thank god!😅
Now do you want to own a car were the dealer can track you. I have a tracker on mine because I purchased and paid for the subscription for insurance purposes but at least I have full control of the app.

May I ask who your dealer is?

I would be livid.

had that same noise until I realized that the the rear door wasn't shut all the way. I closed properly and haven't heard that noise since.
