Ronny Dahl video on Mud Terrain v All Terrain tyres (tires for you in the US)

Mud Terrains have always been superior, never understood the PC AT movement. Only reason for All Terrains is they might be slightly cheaper and smoother/ quieter. The new fad of hybrids is the best of both worlds. The new HD A/T BFG is the toughest now, and the traction is astonishing and they last longer.

One thing he didn’t mention was wet braking, in that respect AT’s are usually (brand dependent) vastly superior. Also in packed snow AT’s win again. But then in WA they don't get much rain and hardly ever any snow…
I went and got both. I have a second set of wheels for the MT’s, I’ll be running the AT’s most of the time..

I don't have MT's because they are too loud, period. of the 15000 or so miles I've driven, at least 14500 of them have been on paved roads.

When in serious snow only M/T will do. I live off grid on roads we plow ourselves. But those new HD BFGs are MIND BLOWING in the snow. I towed a camper off road through 4 feet of snow and never got stuck. (tried) and backed up a snow field quite a ways recently with out an issue. I cannot wait to get a good winter in on these. Slapped some 35x12.50 on the Grenadier as well. Fantastic.

I can hear some 4WD's with mud terrains coming for miles before they get anywhere near my place.
I do live in a quiet area but damn some of them are noisy.

I haven't seen these tyres before.
They look pretty good

Tempted by the puncture resistance of these but cannot fault the KO2s so far. 265s crossed Oz with no punctures and the 285s just ate up the Dempster. Is it worth the extra weight (23kg across the five vs stock KO2s) if you’re not towing?
Cooper ST Maxx tyres also offer better puncture protection. Not a single puncture in roughly 11 years.

Some people just like the chunky fat look.
Horses for courses. I have all conditions to contend with in Tas.
If I get bogged in mud I have a winch and extension strap.
As always , YMMV!
Ronny also has gone back to favouring steel wheels.

Do not even have to watch the video. I will not go off-road with out;
1. Rock Sliders
2. Winch
3. BFG Tires

I wont buy a modern 4x4 with out;

1. A Winch
2. Solid Front Axle
3. Twin Lockers
