Not sure where to put this, here or on ‘Interior’. Looking for a rear lockable slide out drawer storage at least 7 inches tall on the inside. Would like it to lay pretty flat with the back seat lain down. 150mm is too small. Anyone know of anything that fits the bill?

I'm considering this as part of a rear shelf/drawer/fridge setup. 280 mm high external, 220 mm internal. (11" external, 8.7" high internal.)

I know it cannot help you, but we are spoilt for drawer choice in Australia. However, it may give you some ideas. ORS has a large selection.

DRAWERS, FRIDGE SLIDES, FITOUTS, ETC.
  1. Offroad System or ORS (Sydney, NSW). ORS did my fitout;
  2. DRIFTA (branches throughout NSW and Perth WA);
  3. Expedition HQ (Gold Coast) (lots of INEOS products);
  4. BOAB Offroad Drawers;
  5. Full Boar Fourbie drawers (Victoria);
  6. Fourby Fitouts (Victoria);
  7. Best Offroad Drawers (Victoria);
  8. Big Country 4X4 Australia (Perth);
  9. ORD Fridge slides and accessories;
  10. Outback Touring Solutions (Queensland); and
  11. RV Storage Solutions (Victoria).

Wow, reallly interesting to see the options available down there, I guess because of the market. I might just make a ‘hutch’ to see what I need.

This setup by ORS is specifically designed with two large drawers and lays exactly level with the folded seats to make a bed.

This for me looks very appealing.

Was this a custom specification you’d requested or it’s a standard ORS offering for the Grenadier? I’ve looked through their website and this was not apparent.

And the arb drawers use a positive locking latch with one hand operation, and actual rollers. Not like some 6500 dollar systems sold on here built like ikea vertical files files that have server slides with gravity latch tabs on each side. The absolute garbage people are paying premium plus prices for on here is a source of entertainment.

Check the Ineos website configuration tool. They offer just what you are looking for now as an option. View attachment 7875696
Sorry, which company is this?
ETA: sorry, a bit daft. I thought you meant that one of the companies had a configuration for drawers, not that this is part of the INEOS website. Not an option when I bought, as far as I can remember. Looks interesting, like to know more.

On two vs single drawers, I guess a single gives the most room and versatility? For some reason I’m drawn to two drawers, not sure why. Cameras and lenses are my main thing. Three camera set up with 200-400/4, 300/2.8 and ancillary gear is WAY to tempting of a target to leave out in the open- and a PITA to load and unload a few times a week. Plus, once you put that in the back, the airspace above it is kind of useless.

Anyone have a link to hardware for drawers if I wanted to be silly and try to make my own? Zimm seems to imply that there are different levels of hardware- and is there specific hardware to this application?

it was custom as it was the first one and they used my car to do all the measure up but now they will be able to offer it so you will only need to go for the fitting.

You can find heavy duty locking drawer slides on Amazon. I don't think any one brand is the quality leader, they all seem to be made in China.

I had my drawer built by a local cabinet shop out of 3/4" plywood and then I finished it with Raptor Liner which is a black textured bed liner. TruckVault uses the simplex push button deadbolt lock and I used the same on my prior box and they work great. This time I used a biometric deadbolt lock (with key backup) that has an app for my phone because I'm a geek.

Before someone else says it.. nothing is truly theft proof, it just delays a thief and hopefully they move on to an easier target. I still insure against property loss.

That's a nice setup. Which brand of upper storage rack is that?

I used to toss those out when not used on a server install.

My tip is, you only want one side with a falling gravity stop, its not going come loose any more the two would, and since you've decided to not use a nice positive handle/latch, you can still open it with something in your other hand. (or one handed, if youre missing a hand.)

That’s a really nice set up you built.
