Question about headlight washers

In some photos of the front bumper there appear to be small housings for washer nozzles that would clean the headlight and the driving lights. However in the recent photos that have been posted of the long line of Grenadiers under an awning in Switzerland(?) the top of the front bumper seemed to be completely smooth. Does anyone know where the washer nozzles are now located?

I was under the impression it was uk law? But not 100% sure?
From Google -Xenon gas is used to prevent the headlights from flickering – you may see HID lights named as 'Xenon lights'. In the UK and the rest of the EU, cars with HIDs are required to also have headlight washers and a self-levelling system.

Which cars need an SRA?
All vehicles registered since 1 April 2000 that have a dipped beam with a luminous intensity of more than 2,000 lumens must have a headlamp cleaning system.
In particular, many of the xenon headlights installed today (35 watt version) inevitably require an SRA, as their low beam has a luminosity of more than the 2,000 lumens mentioned. Many LED headlights and all halogen headlights, on the other hand, are below this value. A headlight cleaning system is not legally required for them.
Many car manufacturers design their LED or xenon lights so that they do not exceed the limit value. Therefore, they are not obliged to supply an SRA with their vehicles.

Couldn’t see anything like a washer on the PT02’s in Australia.

In the Northeast US in winter a lot of salt is used on the roads, and in a short while your headlights can become completely frosted with salt, and go from a managed beam pattern to a a flood light that restrict vision and blind oncoming drivers. argh

I just checked my contract and specification, dated 7th November 2022. It clearly states "Power heated windscreen washers and wing mirrors". Hope this helps.

Right - but that's windscreen - as in your wiper jets (spray nozzles) are heated, not that there are jets for the headlights.

I guess it’s not something I had given any serious thought too, but after a muddy session in a green lane, salty roads, snowing storms and other driving conditions, I think not including headlight washers may just be an oversight

I just wiped my lights with a rag when I was up there in winter, no drama.

For all countries which follow the UN-ECE regulations the following applies to headlight washers (to be checked in regulations UN-ECE R48 and R112). UN-ECE regulations are used by all countris within the European Union and some more. Please be aware that traffic regulations and laws fall into a category where EU law doesn't beat national law. In national laws (like in Germany the StVZo) you'll find a link to the UN-ECE regulation if that applies instead. That is the reason why you still see different speed limits and emergency light signal etc. in each single country.

If low beam has above 2000 Lumen a headlight washer and an automatic height adjustment is required (whereas a height adjustmen, automatic or manual is required from the 01.01.1990). This in not related to the technology like Xenon or LED or whatever. However, a full Xenon headlight is almost always above Lumen. That is why you almost ever see this headlight washer on Xenon-Cars. I assume that the Grenadier headlights will have around 1500 Lumen. I had the opportunity to compare these lights against the mid-range (not the top level) LED light of the New Defender and it was far better than the Land Rover one. Far better.

Yes that was foung to be my comment. Get out, wipe with rag, get in, on your way.
When off roading, isn't it form to do a walk around of your vehicle to make sure all is right, nothing falling off, no bits of scenery stuck on before rejoining the highway?

One thing I have noticed is that halogen lights which get warm, attract far more salt than LED's which are cooler to the touch allowing the spray to run off before it evaporates. We get tons of salt put on the roads here in Scotland, if you don't wipe your lights they get a thick crust pretty quickly. I had a defender with standard halogen lights and an 7000 lumen light bar between the headlights. The LED bar never built up anywhere near the same amount of salt as the headlights did...
