Curious if anyone has had a similar experience. Nothing quite like this came up in a search of the forum.

When we had 332 total miles on the Grenadier, the odometer (not the trip meter) jumped upon a startup of the vehicle to 1,000 miles. In the 500 or so miles we have travelled since it has continued to count off the miles from 1,000. The trip meter matched the odometer on delivery and has not been reset so it remains an accurate accounting of our actual accrued miles.

Interestingly, the maintenance interval indicator properly shows 12,000 miles less the number on our trip meter as remaining miles to service. Our dealer’s service center didn’t appear to have encountered this before and we have an appointment on the books. We have not performed a reset. We have not experienced any other gremlins. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

This is one issue I am really interested in. I have been out of the business of automobile maintenance and repair for almost ten years now and of course technology has been advancing. I hope that your dealer finds the problem quickly and shares the details…

As an aside, I assume that odometer errors are a ‘big deal’ to your state’s motor vehicle department.

They are and we run the risk of the vehicle being flagged for potential odometer rollback if it's not resolved until after our imminent state inspection.

Following up. The issue was resolved and our mileage reading is again accurate. Per our dealer's service department:
The mileage issue was caused by an error between the head unit and the body control module. Both control units have been replaced and the mileage is now accurate in all the control units throughout the vehicle.
