Ben puts out relevant info for how most people use these vehicles. The spoiler is that he says that the winner for all around is… his LC200/Landcrusier. I don’t disagree. I think Ineos was lucky that Toyota decided to totally decontent and downmarket the Landcrusier here in the US.

Hopefully this is a virgin post for the video.

A good video. (Do I say that because he gave it to the Grenadier?) 🤔
He rates the 'real deal' as his original Toyota. I know the Toyota is legendary, but it doesn't float my boat like the Grenadier, original Defender, or G-Wagon.

I was driving down the highway yesterday and came up behind the new Toyota Prado/250
I was stunned at how low the spare wheel was hanging underneath
The suspension hangers were also extremely low and looked small but not a lot they can do about that.
The spare was also hanging low at the front and higher at the back which will be a real problem if going up rocky slopes.
Looks like it will easily get hung up and damaged or ripped off.

Grenadier and QM buyers are a very different demographic compared to the average Prado buyer. Most Prado owners are not looking for outright offroad and overlanding ability, they're looking for a car they can live with every day as their primary vehicle and do the everyday menial run around tasks with ease and reasonable fuel economy and service costs. There will be the odd trip up the beach or to the bush, but most Prados will barely leave the bitumen.

Did Ben Hardy mention a service every 5000 miles on the Prado? I’m probably wrong as these days, that seems extreme.

I would pick the Grenadier today.
It’s better looking and still should be more analog.

Fortunately I have my 97 LX450 & an 01 LX470.

I don’t need another car but would love to have the Grenadier

The worst thing, was mounting a 1 size larger tire and the LC will barely move. That is EXTREMELY disconcerting. Its looking like these things lean a bit too far toward mall crawling.

I test drove the Land Cruiser 250 and the new Defender before choosing the Grenadier. I looked at the GX550 but every one of them were sold in advance so no test drives.

The new Toyota Land Cruiser drives and feels like a Tacoma... the load floor is compromised with the hybrid battery pack, also the spare tire location too. For 60K base that is priced too steep IMO for a Toyota (load it up its 65 - 70K), and the 76K Overtrail GX550 is all sold out. For on-road driving, it feels better but lacks character. The suspension also feels flimsy going over bumps, which is distinctly different from the Grenadier or the G-Wagon. The 2.4L Hybrid is also disappointing as it is very unrefined in power delivery compared to the other two.

You're right, drive the vehicle.
I don't think we can take it too seriously when one person comments on stationary vehicles but I can say the Grenadier wins hands down and that I wasn't one bit concerned about driving any other vehicle than the Grenadier. The work and testing that Ineos had shown that has gone into the Grenadier made me curious over the five or so years watching and reading, so much so I drove the vehicle and put my money down. If it didn't stand up I would be playing more with my series II LR but having the Grenadier is giving me time to give the series a revamp and the new girl a good run for the money...36000klms and a few scares but It's brilliant (y)

Even further to this, MAJORITY of New Prado owners in SEQLD will never touch sand, mud or off road - just the like the previous version owners. I say that, because it is just how it is.

That would be nearly every new 4wd in any capital city irrespective of the brand.
