I needed a one person sleep platform for an upcoming fishing trip. I looked at a couple of options like Hele Box, PACK Rack, etc., but in the end decided to build my own to better fit my needs and budget. Materials used (1) sheet, 3/4" plywood, Home Depot carpet and Luno Air+Foam Pro Camping Mattress, standard size. Have you built your own sleep platform? I'd love to see it!
I hope this helps someone else!

Did you remove the rear seat bottom? I have been consider removing it when I run a platform. It looks like it's just a few screws and you pick up some needed length.
Hi Commodore,
Yep in the first pics, the rear seat bottom was removed which gave me a lot more space. And you are right, it is just three screws and fairly quick to remove and replace. The last two pics is an example of the rear seat bottom still in place and folded up. You can tell it probably takes away almost 8". But it's plenty of room for my 8 year old to take a nap while his older brother is at soccer practice. :)

That is a great job and has my attention. I always felt that the seats not lying flat was the biggest flaw
with the grenedier. what size is are the vertical uprights.
Thanks! I really wanted the platform to be as flush as possible with the seat laying down. So I believe I cut the uprights near 6" and then with the 3/4" plywood on top it got me really close.

So you used the 72" mattress and not the 78". Do you think the 78" would fit with the seat bottom removed and the driver seat push all the way forward?

Correct, I'm using the Lono 72" mattress with the seat in my regular driving position. I just measured and If I moved the drivers seat all the way up, there was an additional 6-7 inches. Of course with the seat bottom removed. I think the larger 78" would fit fine.

I just need to figure out the mosquito net situation and now I have my camp set up. Nice work

Nvm re: window screens. I saw their web site and they have those too!

I've used these before to good effect: https://theskeeterbeater.com/

Last I checked they don't have anything specific to the gren, but they take custom orders. It should be trivial to get some for the front and mid doors.
Clever idea... However magnets are ineffective on aluminium/aluminum body panels which abound on the Grenadier...;)

Looks like they use magnets. Unfortunately for us looks like we have aluminum doors and fenders . I checked yesterday. Main body is steel.

The Luno ones seem stretchy but doesn’t seem too air flow capable. However a slip over the door , roll your own, maybe incorporate one side screen and a reinforced webbing on the inside with Velcro to add window covers if needed.

I have a summer ID/MT - Yellowstone trip. That mattress plus sleep deck would be option A and option B will be bring along a shift pod type tent I’ll have strapped to the roof rack. Option c is the high risk sleeping under the stars roof top invisible tent . 😂
