Some turd pulled out in front of me and I now have a nice wrecked Grenadier…… dealer seems really slow to respond to getting parts.
Anyone with experience getting body parts like a front fender and bumper parts?

Had an Aston Martin and it was joke to get body parts for, I ended up buying used off of eBay for AM’s flagship Vanquish….. really hope this isn’t similar for the Grenadier?

Thanks in advance

Bugger. I can't comment on parts but know the pain when others cause damage to your property!!!

@MyGrenny I feel your pain, I was hit by a drunk driver about a month ago. Luckily I had minimal damage but it is still going to take months for them to get the parts. Mine was a hit and run, fortunately I got a photo of his license plate and him covering his face.

Well they did tout the ease of getting repaired and abundance of parts suppliers as a selling point….. guess that’s all porky pies?
I have great things to say to everyone I meet about these rigs but if repair parts are not readily available that won’t bode well for championing their cause…. $92k USD vehicle too much to drive around all busted up.

Last I checked (about two weeks ago) all the bumper parts were in stock in the US distribution center, not sure about fenders... If your dealer is being slow, have your body shop contact another dealer, they are not created equal

Hmm, when you say bumpers do you also mean the plastic trim on the sides of the rear bumper and along the wheel arch?

The front bumper appears to be in 3 pieces of metal, it’s the center and passenger side I need……plus passenger front fender and headlight trim.

As @anand said, not all dealers are created equal. I know it’s frustrating - but call around to several of them - they can ship to your closest dealer. I don’t THINK there is a shared dealer inventory database, so your dealer is just looking at their stock and the main distribution hub or central parts inventory. We’re all having to put in a little more legwork on parts than we anticipated.

Hmm, there are two grenadiers on CoPart, one west cost the other east coast... Depending on how long the dealer is going to take to get parts, it might make sense to bid on one and part it out...

Why would your dealer be getting involved in accident damage??
Surely you just notify your insurance company and they look after it?
If the other person is at fault it doesn't cost you anything
Insurance company will book it into the smash repairer and you get a loan vehicle??

Gee I never considered that haha….. as I experienced with my Aston Martin, insurance companies are not resourceful when faced with a challenge….. had I not sourced my Vanquish fender on eBay my car would still be sitting in my garage damaged…..
3 days after Grenadier collision the repair shop had still not given the dealer a list of parts and, as I tried to inquire about the parts, I couldn’t get the dealer’s attention.

So, if I can source the parts and connect the source with the repair shop I can get my car fixed sooner.

Tenacity…..

And BTW, the parts shop has to get the parts from the dealer I’m not sure where else they would source them?
Obviously very different there to here.
Even if the local car dealer doesn't have the parts in stock they get them from the actual manufacturers local warehouse or they come in from overseas warehouse.
So you just contact your insurer and either they book it into their preferred repairer, or you can take it to a few of your insurers agreed repairers and they look it over.
They then quote the insurance company after they have checked on availability of parts.
Once they are allocated the repair they book in a time and tell you how long they will have it.
Generally (Unless it was towed in as undriveable) you then take it in when they have the parts.
My Mercedes door was smashed, the repairer ordered from local Merc dealer, they ordered off Merc Australia who flew the parts in from Merc Germany.
In our case Ineos dealer would order from Ineos Australia main warehouse in Melbourne.
Neither the repairer or dealer would tell us if Ineos had it in stock.
Generally also the repairer wouldn't accept parts from the owner of the vehicle because they
  • want to make a profit on the parts
  • Have to offer a warranty on the repair and parts, which is back to back with the manufacturer.
  • Are not allowed to use second hand parts, which they would be if supplied by anyone other than the approved dealer
  • Their customer is the insurance company, not the vehicle owner.

Again, not to be a dick, but thanks Captain Obvious…..

Things are different here in US than Australia clearly. I don’t need advice on how to get my car fixed or procedures as I got that down. I just needed some feedback on anyone else that might have had to get their grenadier body repaired and how long one can expect for parts.

With all due respect a Benz is a commodity product with ample sources for parts/repair. Ever tried to have insurance fix a low production car like an AM Vanquish? Different experience and than a Benz. Is Grenadier the same challenge and similar to many EV cars with no parts lists or repair manuals/estimate templates for repair shops? TBD. I’m told the new RR Defender is up to 8 months for body parts.

Found a dealer who is assisting and I’ll connect them with my repair shop.
