The Diesel water separator is standard on the AU Spec Diesel engines but optional in some other countries. The second fuel filter is not fitted to petrol motors.
AU SPEC DIESEL – REAR FUEL FILTER IS THE ONE TO CHANGE
This AU Spec Diesel is fitted with two fuel filters. The Diesel water separator down near the fuel tank (passenger side rear wheel arch) and a second fuel filter up under the rear passenger (RHD vehicle).
INEOS Australia recommends replacing the filter in the rear Diesel water separator.
The INEOS Part No: is GRA3E12019770. In Australia it costs AUD71.40 plus GST. The INEOS Kit also has a new O-ring for the filter cap.
The fuel filter looks like this (the filter is in a plastic wrapper):
HOW TO REPLACE THE FILTER
No INEOS instructions as yet. The Service Manager at Purnell Adventure told me to disconnect both sets of wires (top and bottom of the filter case), disconnect the fuel lines in and out of the top of the filter case. Then undo the two bolts and take the casing off and change the filter. Once the filter is changed replace the O-ring on the filter cap. Reassemble the filter case. Once all this is done reconnect the fuel lines and electrics and re-tighten the two bolts. No simple task because the separator is not easy to access.
