fault code reader

Not yet. The standard readers will do the standard decodings, but not the vendor specific codes. They first need some reverse engineering and this will likely take some time.

I'd wait until something useful is available.

I have an old ScanGauge 2 that has historically worked on all my vehicles. It has to be 20-years old, but even resets codes without required drive cycles until “ready” for inspection.

The Autophix 9000 was highly recommended on the Australian websites. I couldn’t find the same in UK so ordered from Australia at £135.00 delivered. Just heard back from Autophix in China who tell me it is the same software as the UK suppled OM129 @ £79.00 on Amazon. Too late for me but a heads up for others.

You can read but not clear from my understanding. And this.

The other alternative, if quick. How did you pay for it? If by BACS or a bank card it will need to go through currency transfer, your bank could stop it, BUT there may/will be a charge (usually £25) which may mean it is not worth doing and you have another OBD. Don't know anything about PayPal don't use it.
Hi Eric
Thanks for the suggestion but I will now wait to see how 4x4 & Camping respond. If I am too late, not the worst thing as I have several other vehicles. Just a pity I paid as much as I did compared to the UK price for the same software as found in the OM129. (£79.00)

Perhaps I'm not understanding what they are saying, but I've had no issues clearing codes.
That's good to hear , but until at least a dozen people report success across several systems I'm keeping the credit card at home!

If INEOS has decided to "close" the ECU for external clearing attempts, they have very likely set a secret code/a password to do so if they want to do this themselves.

So it could eventually make sense to install a can-bus sniffer in the car to record the entire communication to find out how they do it. It should be something which does not hook in at the CAN protocol level but on a lower layer - which may sound easier than it actually is.

Sounds like a completely obvious solution to me. 🥸😁
