I've just found a video of a group driving across the Simpson Desert in central Australia, from West to East in June 2024. They made it to Birdsville just before the Big Red Bash.

Although this isn't filmed by a Grenadier owner, it does prominently feature a Gren doing the crossing with ease, including making it up Big Red. I wonder whether that owner is on here? It makes me much more comfortable in knowledge that if I wanted to, I too could get out to where I want to go in my Gren (with planning, supplies etc...) - visit Camerons Corner / Innaminka / Arkaroola.

We did the crossing in November 2023 East to West via the French Line, if you search on here you’ll find the trip journaled.

If you have any questions please feel free to ping!

We drove the Hay river track to the QAA line to Birdsville May 2024 -3 people in the car and fully loaded to GVM at the start. No problem at all.It rained substantially while we were in there and the QAA was closed while we were on the way out - 40mm of rain at Birdsville! It was muddy but we didn’t get stuck or have any trouble. Car is super capable. Two brand new Toyotas (300 series) costing $285K each (heavily modified) both died in the water and mud. Alternators failed. Their owners were very interested in my Grenadier ! Many other Utes getting stuck. Grenadier is a beast. We carried far too much fuel using only 100L of diesel. Carried 150Lt diesel and 130L of water. Hope that gives you confidence !!

It’s great to see that lots of us on here have visited the area, and Big Red has hosted many a Grenadier. 🙂
