@alvan kindly provided a coolant purge procedure in my manual thread which I am planning to incorporate into the next Rok_Dr manual update.
https://www.theineosforum.com/threa...’s-manual-supplement.12415655/post-1333277482.

However in checking, (to ensure that to the extent possible any information put in the manual is correct), I stumbled across @Ingemar ’s excellent youtube video series and episode 5 which discussed the cooling system purging.

.
He described 2 methods and the second in the video description is very similar to that described by alvan. However he stated that it was for diesel vehicles only. Can anyone confirm whether this is correct or not? Also using this procedure do you need to remove the coolant caps first?

Finally has anyone used Ingemar’s first simple procedure and did it solve your heating issues?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve
the BMW factory "Coolant bleeding procedure" for the B57 Diesel is on page 63 of the following document:
Given several references to "top up the coolant" I presume the cap is left off the coolant reservoir for the process.
I haven't studied/ used Ingmar's method..

cheers
D.

Thanks @DenisM I had forgotten about that document and will add it to the reference list in the next update.
The procedure I posted is for B58
Many thanks for clarifying it also applies to the B58 Petrol engine. @alvan It's appreciated!

Cheers

Steve

Question: is there any message in the HMI that the system is bleeding? I tried the maintenance mode but got no message so I’m not sure if I done something wrong

I had they heating system bleed done by my dealer. A couple of months later the vehicle was serviced at another dealer who found the blue coolant reservoir cap was missing. £19.61 for a new cap, I could strip down the Grenadier, sell the bits and buy 4 new ones 😂

A main dealer quoted me £37 for a Nissan/Renault oil filler cap. £19 sounds very reasonable in comparison.

And another question: the small radiator on the right handed side is also for cooling the coolant right? Should it be not warm when the main radiator is hot? Mine is cold as a mountain lake.

Sadly my dealer is no help at all. After they refilled the aircon my radiator fan runs always on full speed if I turn the aircon on. “That’s normal in the summer”. The fan did it not in the past and we have 15 degrees Celsius outside at the moment.
