Thought the windscreen is made by Pilkington in the UK on all models.
That it be , that it be.

That's what she...
No, I'm going to be mature today.😑
And that we had the privilege of witness to this moment . . .

This post makes me laugh… After 30 plus years in the automotive industry, I have read this refrain over and over from owners of vehicles with more vertically oriented windshields. Jeep owners, Mini owners all complain about “soft glass”. The reality is that the windshield is simply more prone to damage as a result of the angle it makes with road debris. Unless you want your next Grenadier to have a raked windshield, just learn that this is part of the cost of ownership.
For the record, when I owned a Jeep, I replaced the windshield 2 times in 40,000 miles and I learned to stay far away from dump trucks. My various Mini's all had windshields replaced too as have several of my trucks.
It is just part of the experience.

I tend to agree... but, it's just frustrating when my two recent cracks have resulted from cars going the opposite way. Mind you, I live in a town with a gravel pit, so there's constant source of detritus on the roads. I keep a good distance behind (the many) dump trucks around here and prefer to have people behind me ride my tail than have it be 'my fault' I get another chip that creeps out into a crack.

If you've not tried it yet and you get a chip, try rushing over to a windshield replacement facility. Or better yet, park it and have a mobile service come. I've had some success with drilling... I wasn't around to ask if they applied any epoxy or hardener, but the time I did try it, the chip didn't expand or worsen into a crack and lasted for the two or three years after.

Are those of you with cracks/chips using Exo-Shield? I have the 3mm - my dealer arranged it. Exo-Shield (they’re based in Canada) also told me that an installer could custom cut their Ultra-Shield (I think 5mm) to fit the Grenadier

One other thing... Jeep offers "Gorilla Glass" as an option. If I recall, it's $150.00 or so... who wouldn't check that box?

I wonder what's so special?

I've had great success with this kit as well, easy to do in just a few minutes... A lot of the Sprinter folks swear by them and have been known to pull over immediately after getting a chip/hit to the windshield to fill it

I use a product called WindshieldSkin which is a DIY install kit on most of my vehicles. They make a pre-cut one for the Grenadier which I ordered and had it ready to install when I brought the Grenny home from the dealer. It was really easy to install and is crystal clear you can’t even tell that it’s there. Before I started using this product I was replacing windshields almost every year on our daily driven vehicles.

Clean your window thoroughly they provide a scrubbing pad just for that. Also, make sure to mix your wetting solution correctly they recommended, of all things, baby shampoo. Keep the entire window and film wet before laying on the windshield then slowly squeegee it out applying more solution as needed. I’d pick a day when it is warmer or if you have a heated garage even better.

In my state there is constant road construction and gravel trucks on the interstate so driving home that first time was like running a gauntlet. Every summer the road crews come out and “lower the manhole covers” by rock chipping the roads, worst part is they let the loose gravel sit for 30+ days to settle before they put a final sealing coat on top of it so there are literally 6 weeks each year where if you own something you don’t want damaged you leave it a home and drive a beater.

I honestly think there are folks who love it when roads are freshly chipped and ignore the “Drive Slow” signs just so they can flip gravel and shatter someone’s windshield. If you live in a state where this is approved road re-surfacing process you have my sympathy.

I will add this to my Grenadier as soon as it is delivered!
