Looking for expressions of interest for an Australian group buy of the X-Lock device 20,000lb WLL. This device can be used a number of ways in recoveries but for us most importantly it can be used to safely shorten a winch rope extension or join winch ropes. With only about 10m of usable rope on the winch we may need to use’s extensions but it will be rare that you can find an anchor that is exactly the 10m plus whatever length your extension is away. You dont want to partially extend your winch rope because you want maximum pull length so you will likely need to shorten your extension rope, but how to do that in a way that won’t bind ir damage the rope. X-Lock. I don’t have a full price yet but am asking what they could do price wise for a group buy but taking into account device+ international shipping and probably GST and then local shipping from me to you. I am guessing @$300 ( I intend to charge cost only, no margin) let me know if anyone interested.

I am a bit of a winching novice - so I don't fully appreciate the X Lock benefits.
However, I would be happy to join the buy group.

I found their website really informative - as a novice as well.
Good diagrams, pictorials about how to use their product, as well as rigging setups.
Best example I have seen of what @globalgregors talks about when he mentions Spanish Burton.

They also have an app - which looks awesome too.

The X-lock has other uses, but the primary one of concern to me is how to shorten a winch extension rope. It will be rare that your extension rope is exactly the right length, you also with only 10m of usable rope on the OE winch are likely to find thay it isn’t enough to reach an appropriate anchor point and because you will want the full 10m of pulling length you won’t want to partially extend your winch rope otherwise your pulls are going to be quite short before you come across the shackle joining your winch rope and your extension rope. You can’t just knot it, because knots reduce breaking strain and you may never be able to undo it again after you put strain on it. The X-lock allowe to to shorten the extension and makes sure the rope won’t bind and keeps an appropriate radius on the rope to protect it.

X-Lock GROUP BUY

For those interested in an X-Lock device as in my previous post. I have confirmed a modest discount for a group buy and a significant saving on shipping. I should be able to get for about $235AUD if you pick up from Sydney. Or plus postage (roughly $15) if have to post. That’s around a $ $50-$65 saving over ordering yourself. If you want to commit then please send me a confirmation to andrewwilts1@gmail.com I wont ask for payment until they are here and ready to ship and dependent on getting my minimum number. Will do final a confirmation with you before I order. I need to get a min of about 18 confirmations, I have also posted on Australian FB page so hopefully between the two I can get enough takers.

Just a reminder to send me an email at andrewwilts1@gmail.com to confirm interest if you want one. We are halfway to threshold for the minimum order. Will only be doing once so don’t miss out if you want one. Will close for good once I put the order in.

Only need about 5 more hand raisers to do and order email me andrewwilts1@gmail.com if you want to be added to the list

FYI I think the email you have listed here is different from the one you have previously provided (you hav an 'a' before the '1' in the address
Apologies you are right. I shall fix the first os correct

Was watching a couple of High Country videos today - a few tracks I haven’t done before. A little bit of rain on the tracks made them a bit greasy (understatement).
I’m thinking I should have ordered that winch now. 😟😢

Update: I have ordered and will advise any who have emailed me when they are ready for pickup or shipping.
At this stage 1 have one unallocated one and first in can secure it. Otherwise I will close this opportunity.
