I got the screws out, but I could not remove the plastic grill above them. I was not prepared to use more force than I applied. The grille was bending but not coming out. It was safer to find another route for my cable.

In my case I wanted to run a UHF aerial cable from the driver' side bracket to the passenger side and then back down to the firewall. I found another route.

The Canny route?

The Canny route?
Down through the firewall yes, but I have two UHF aerials, one from the driver's side, the other passenger side. So I feed the driver's side across the front grill and then put the two cables together into split tubing and routed them through the firewall (per Canny video). I just run the cable a little higher than the grille we are talking about - the cables were feed just below the fog lights.

More details here.

Basic image here of the cable feed.
