27 MPG Was pleasantly surprised when I check my freeway mileage yesterday. I filled up and drove on a flat freeway for exactly 50 miles and filled again. It took exactly 1.8 gallons. 50÷1.8=27.7

Have seen 30mpg (diesel) on a trip at Scottisch Highlands and Lewis/Harris. Mostly small roads, 50-80km/h, sometimes 100km/h.

These were my optimum speeds for mpg breaking in my B58. I found having multiple attendents at multiple stations pumping gas (reqired) in Oregon made my observed mpg impossible to accurately gauge. I wound up getting 17-18 over the 800 mile break in ride home which averaged 53 mph.

My best, according to on board computer and not own calculations, was a 220mile round trip. Mainly on UK motorways at around 55-65mph. This was also mostly on m62 which has a climb to and from 1221 feet. Either side I may have been near sea level. The computer gave me 32mpg!!! I have front & rear lockers plus the KO2 tyres.
I have done the same drive at 28mpg, again using on board readings. Local 10 mile or so runs I would get around 24mpg. Longer runs 27-28mpg seems normal whatever the roads, twisty and slow or motorway.

That's similar mileage to my old Defender TD5 110.
l guess that makes sense as it's a similar shape.

My 2022 Defender will do 38-40mpg at a steady 70mph and around 28mpg in city driving.

At 70mph the engine is turning at 1,500 rpm where on my old Defender it was nearer 3,000 rpm at that speed.

Mentioning it again for awareness...

UK MPG and US MPG are not the same so don't compare economy figures without doing the conversion first.
1 Imperial (UK) gallon = 1.2009 US gallons
1 US gallon = 0.8326 Imperial gallons

For beermat, or zip-thud pub/bar level of accuracy, US * 1.2 = UK MPG and UK * 0.8 = US MPG.
Conversion calculator here. (there are many available).

Best I had was 330km nothing over 100km except for maybe a 20k section, mostly 90km due to traffic etc - was 9.9L/100km. Just cracked the barrier!
