2024 ADAS Issue and Work Around (USA)

The ADAS clicks come from either an audio file or a physical device that emits that specific sound only. I think it's the latter. Would be nice to have the shop manual so we can find out.

I was watching a video of the Tesla M3 vs the new Chinese BYD electric in the UK. The BVD has the same ADAS clicking/beeping and is highlighted by the reviewer as an extreme distraction.

I've read that the trailer hitch update 'may have' quietly solved the problem on some vehicles so it will be interesting to see if that's the case.

The guys at TFL loved the Grenadier, except for ADAS and the price. They only kept it for a few months and moved on. Interesting because they definitely evaluate for offroad capability. Summarizing a bit but, the feeling was that offroad it was as good as it gets but you still have to drive on-road to get there.

I have some friends who have switched out the steering stabilizer with good results. Someone is going to solve the ADAS/Speed Limit Indicator thing and then it will be fully dialed in!

Same issues here. I'm going to get it to stop one way or another. Even if all the audio speakers have to be removed from truck. Mine was in shop (for 60 days) for list of issues that were present at initial delivery and just got it back. Dealer said they "updated software" when talking with them on phone and click was staying off. They either did not update software or fibbed about it helping as 5 min from getting vehicle back, its same old CLICK, CLICK, CLICK.
What dealer needs 60 days? What dealer was it? NC?

If you find the "physical device" I will buy you something nice !! I have asked 3 times to purchase a wire schematic with no success. Had a Land Cruiser years ago, paid $100 for the 2" thick schematic book and told you everything you needed.

Triad. Nice folks ... said they could not get parts. Key Fob, Door lock cylinder, several other items that were "faulty" at delivery. When the AC didn't work on the 1st hot day, had to take it back. They did provide loaner and I don't think its them, its Ineos. Of the 50 or so cars I have bought in my life, this is the only one I have had buyers remorse over within 15 min of leaving the dealership. Love the actual truck, hate the nannies and lack of support when it was to be purposely build, serviceable and at one stage I even thought they advertised you could fix simple things yourself. LOL - dealer can't even seem to get parts timely. Hope nothing major fails, hell of an expensive paper weight.

Perhaps the greatest mistake Ineos made currently damaging their reputation was not building/stocking a centrally located parts warehouse that was up and running prior to the first "G" landing on NA shores. Agree this vehicle has caused me more angst just from what I keep reading than blessedly what I have experienced.

I have heard nothing but good things about Jason (GM) and his handling of customer issues. Have not met Jason (SM). I was not fortunate enough to have GM Jason assist me with my purchase. Didn't leave Triad with any warm feelings as such.

One would have thought they would know this already being logistics is part of every large business, but even so, It all makes me wonder if they didn't "elon musk" the operation, and think they knew better and didn't need to pilfer a good car exec from somewhere so as to avoid all the pitfalls they seem to be plummeting into. They have really gone about this the hard way.

Funny because there are days where it annoys the living hell out of me and then days where I don't really notice it. My biggest annoyance with it is that it isn't accurate at all. My street is 40, it thinks it's 25 and clicks at me. Street is 35, reads the sign, says ok, I'll log it as 35. 10 seconds later it goes back to 25 and clicks at me.

That isn't necessarily Ineos specific. There is a road by me that use to be 45 or 50 that was changed within that last 2 or 3 years to 35. My traffic sign detection on my Defender would jump between 35, 45 and 50. It would change when the cameras saw the 35mph but would change back again whenever it wanted. It is only about 3 miles long and would change multiple times. I have read all speed limit sign detection systems use both the vehicle cameras and street data which might not be updated.

Some systems show 15mph in school zones no mater what time of day and others show the normal speed for that road all the time without the school speed ever shown.

For what it's worth, the parts warehouse in the US was operational with parts in stock before the first Grenadier was delivered to a customer; of course, as more parts are ordered an understanding of actual required quantities on hand gets fine tuned... This also assumes availability upstream, which, at least in the last quarter of 2023, was probably minimal given the huge push of US orders they were building at the factory... At least this is what I can figure out from my time spent dealing with dealer parts (non Ineos)

@Catpaw4x4 is roughly right on the location, it's pretty central and with good shipping lines to either side of the country

But it's a good-looking paperweight! This is all part of the first-time manufacturer, first-model-year stuff. They got so much of it right but I think they failed in customer service/support and more importantly overall communication at the dealer and ultimately the customer level.

As some of you know, I ended up selling my IG. Partially because of my hatred of their version of ADAS but largely because I was 5 hours away from a dealership and didn't want to plan trips around updates and fixes along the way. As these things get ironed out and there is more aftermarket support, there will be another IG in my future.

My Grenny is at a local alarm shop right now. The tech said he needed around 2 days to figure out where everything was. I'll ask him if he happened to find a physical click emitter. If not, I'll ask him to ride with me so he can listen to where the sound is coming from. He's had a lot of experience with alarm installations, including BMWs and G Wagons. Will update on what he finds.

Dealing with the faulty noise issues on my truck, and speaking with the service manager, it appears that the Tell Tale module is what is responsible for generating noises. He said there is a small speaker within the module which emits a noise, but it also comes through the head unit as well. I believe this statement to be true as one day the sound coming from the module did not match the sound from the speakers. I could tell because there was a slight delay between the two. My guess is that this module controls all of the clicks, chimes, beeps, and bells that this vehicle emits. If you were to delete it or modify it, you might lose turn signals, lane departure, seat belt, and other warning sounds.

It would probably be easier to have someone create a small bit of code to just have the settings stay after shut down. Turn it off in the settings and it stays off. Which in my opinion is the way it should have been delivered. Their asses are covered because they provide it, and its the consumer choice if they want to use it.

Agreed. I cannot imagine why some things are coded to turn back on (or off) after the truck is turned off because of "safety" systems but other can be turned off permanently like the over speed warning and the daytime headlights.

None of that stuff is law, at least in the US it isn't.


Odd thought. Can a Canadian owner tell us if the DRL's can be switched off permanently or do they come back on after an engine restart. I suspect their OS is the same as the US trucks but lights on in Canada is law so I cannot imagine that they would be allowed to turn them off permanently.

There are so many volume adjustment settings in the GUI. Shouldn't there be one for the warning sounds? I haven't been able to find which one it is yet, if there is one for the ADAS clicks.

I know everyone hates it (including me) and there should be a "remember my choices" function, but it can easily be disabled. Yes, it's a pain. Yes, I forget and get annoyed. Yes, it's dumb. But really, it's not that big of a deal. Now, in 2026 when it CANNOT be disabled...that's another story all together!

FWIW, my pre-flight routine - start truck, press FAV button and turn off ADAS stuff, seat belt, lower handbrake, toggle off stop/start, put in drive, and go.

I do appreciate the insanely convenient location of the auto stop/start button. They should of placed an ADAS button right next to it. LOL

Exactly my routine. There is NO software update coming from Ineos that addressed these issues. I asked.
