Did you realize, our raised air intake sucks in a lot of dust where it enters the fender. I could drastically reduce dust in the filter with taping the outer seam. The sealing there begs for improvement. Has someone done it already? Thinking of applying sikaflex but i am afraid the right fender has to be taken off to do it properly. How can i take off the fender?

With all of the aftermarket products rolling out, I’m a bit surprised not to have seen a sealed system yet…

I found this issue last week after having an annoying "knocking sound"... The raised are intake has become separated from the body. There is effectively no sealing from the exterior. The failure occurred from highway driving. There has not been any contact, hit or impact with the air intake.

There are products being worked on, but they are not cheap.

Everything snorkel I’ve seen so far is round pipe bogan stuff properly designed to live on a Ford Ranger.

I don’t have an outback trip planned until later next year so ‘m hoping something sensible comes out before then.
