Ordinarily a gas strut coming off wouldn’t be a big deal. But, sadly I ended up with some panel damage.
Let this be a lesson to all of you.
Has anyone else suffered the same outcome.

That’s bang on point, Taz. Much appreciated. I don’t appear to have a grommet. Now Curious to see if the panel damage is covered as a warranty issue!

Looks like the taillight took a scuff too. But hopefully that’s all ok - they’re like €600!

The same thing just happened to me, but worse, the door cracked the brake light when it swung open. Didn't even know the grommet was missing and never had an issue with it before, it must have fallen off.

Do you happen to have a photo of what the grommet should look like? Is it rubber?

I'm not sure what grommet Aman was referring to in that other thread. This is the setup on my 2/2023 build. It seems secure.

Does anyone have something different to this?

Thanks. So this round piece here is what is missing now. Edit: And yes my issue is with the 70 door.

Rubber thing might be the door cushion that prevents damage if you slam the doors in the wrong order while raging about the RHD driver's footrest. Has yours fallen off?

Sorry, I couldn't resist 😁

Ok. It's a plastic cap that snaps into the head of the gas strut at both ends. I tried to get one out to take a pic but they're tight and I wasn't up for making this a problem for me as well 🙏.

At a guess I would say they are a socket that clips over the strut ball to make the connection, plus a tight closure so it looks pretty and stays clean and dry. If you lost one that might explain why your strut disconnected.

The strut is a Stabilus item with IA branding. I'm not confident that the cap would be available as a separate item. It shouldn't just fall out though so a warranty claim seems reasonable. Good luck.

I have this rubber found on ground! Already reinstalled the door bump stop - that fell off earlier in the year!

The one below, DMC30 (which I cannot find) - was sitting on 2 feet outside my Garage door... its approx. 20mm dia.

Hmm... Some sort of press in cushion. Sorry 🤷‍♂️
Yeah, it would go into a round hole about 5mm dia by the looks of it... I am mystified and will get a close inspection tomorrow to see where it comes from, if at all the Gren. It is high quality bump stop too - not like the 3c ones from Temu or on Toyotas/Fords!
